a bunch of my friends are going to the track today and i want to race my car.the only thing i am concerned about is my stock clutch not holding up. i was thinking about launching at 3 or 4,000. i dont want to replace the clutch till after my turbo kit install and dyno tune march 27th. car has never been to the track before and has 18k miles on it. what do you guys think i should do? not race, launch at a lower rpm, or go all out. thanks?

i might remove the rear seat is that alot of work

If you don't want to be replacing your clutch then I would suggest not launching it. There is no formula to when your clutch will go. Sure the oem clutch has tq/hp limits but only you know how hard you drive your car, and how worn you oem clutch is, and how close it is to going out.

Wouldn't waist you time with the back seat. This isn't a Buick, and the rear seat doesn't weigh shit. I've found the easiest way to remove the most weight is to loose the passenger seat, spare tire, rear trunk sub, and get a light weight battery, and loose the spoiler too.

Use the 5500rpm two-step, and don't slip it too much. you'll build 3-4lbs of boost to leave the line preventing bogging of the engine.

I've done launched my car 30-40 times like this, and have smoked the clutch numerous times but it still lives to see another day. It's all practice.

On the street I also try not to use the clutch as little as possible(heat kills clutches), rev-matching the gears instead.

I wouldn't launch then. Also, know that not launching will kill your times.

^Good advice. I recommend if you are gonna launch go all out. There are lots of ppl with 20+ launches and still fine on stock clutch. Dotn launch at 4k, you will make the rest of us and yourself look bad. Launching that low all your gonna do is bog and have a poor launch unless you really slip the clutch, which is gonna kill it anyway. So go all out.

Do you have the money and means to replace your clutch should it go?

Is replacing your clutch worth launching your car today?

Thats what it's all about. Don't worry there's ALWAYS somebody faster. Just go and have fun. Isn't that why you bought an Evo in the first place.
