: Scammer - Buyer Beware: evoevo aka David Rydl

TRUSTcompany9000

It has come to the attention of the staff that the user evoevo, aka David Rydl, has been scamming members here. The most recent was an AMS FMIC that he sold. Instead of sending said intercooler, he actually sent the stock one. We have proof beyond a reasonable doubt (aka original shipping box with weight on it... AMS FMIC weighs considerably more than the OEM one) and have determined that he should be avoided when it comes to buying, selling, and trading.

He also does have a history of becoming an unproductive member of an online community in this manner before, as can be seen here:

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f37/scammer-david-rydl-omaha-ne-silverblacksrt4-407088/

http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f10/watch-out-silverblacksrt4-404570/

Cliff Notes: Don't buy, sell, or trade from this user.

If you go through the post from the other forums members have stated they no where he lives....maybe you can contact one of them. The posts are pretty old so not sure if those are still active members or not. The one guy says he lives down the street from him. Top link

Yeah I learned this lesson with PayPal a few years ago. If you notice when paying with them they always default to your bank account and not your credit card. Its because when they use your bank they are in control of any fraud issues. When you use your CC they are at the mercy of their rules. I always pay with my Visa for this reason since they give the ability to charge back.

Have you called and talked to a PayPal rep?

i think exoxforums.com should make a rule that for sale post require an ebay link to buy once a price is agreed upon so if you are scammed you can get your money back.

beetle_orange
03-21-2010, 02:02 AM
and if i am not mistaken, this was the AMS fmic that he "agreed" to sell to one guy but ended up selling to another just because the said guy "paid" first. i bet you if the first guy didnt throw fits all over how they had agreed in principle this jackass would have tried to sell it to both of them.

Excalibur

You mean a link to a buy it now or something? Can't you still be scammed in the same manner that you did?

IndyEvo
03-21-2010, 02:07 AM
yes you could still be scammed the same way, but if it is on ebay and you pay through paypal you can get your money back. even though i paid through paypal i can't get my money back from paypal. if it was on ebay i would be fine. would most likely slow scamming down a lot to.

scammed guys, report it to: http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

and research on his address and then call and report it to the county sheriff/police office under his address' jurisdiction. Explain what had happened and give his complete name and address and they can give him a visit and he will be in "their wanted/watchlist profile".

I had this problem before so I learned my lesson, I buy local stuff only, I see it, I buy it..cash.

Im one of the local Omaha NE SRT4 guys, I haven’t talked or seen David in a little over a year. Back when I use talk to him often he lived in South Omaha, and he worked as a truck driver for Pepsi in Omaha. He use to be active in the local AutoX events.

He was always a cool straight forward nice guy with all the local people so I really can’t see him scamming people but that’s just how he was with us.
People on our local racing site know him personally so there’s a better chance of finding his home address if a post is made on http://www.nestreetscene.com

He never was one of the popular car people in town but I know a hand full of people on that site are close friends with him. His user name on that site is GraphiteGreyEvo, on http://midwestevos.com his user name is ggevo9

Well that’s all the info I know and like I said before, scamming people doesn’t sound like something he would do but if he did I hope the guy that got scammed gets his money back
Forward this info to the guy who got scammed if you want but keep me out of it because I really don’t think he scammed anyone.

SWEET VICTORY! i just out scammed the scammer. haha this feel so good. let me tell you how i worked the system.

first if you have read this post you will know david rydl sent me a oem fmic instead of an AMS that i payed him for.

when i disputed this thru payapl all paypal make the seller do is provide a correct traking number for the transaction. since he sent me something and made sign for it he had a (1) tracking #.

since he had a valid tracking # paypal washes there hands of the matter, they do not investigate the to see if the item is legit, there done at that point.

hold on...i think to my self? i paid david rydl in the form of two payments one was for $50 (for the factory fmic) and one was $550 for the AMS fmic. :shades:

so i re submitted my dispute and provided that the shipping weight on the package david sent me was to light to be the AMS and it was the oem one he sent me...the only one he sent me so he had only one tracking # haha so i got his oem for $50 and the $550 payment was reversed. he probabaly spent at least $20 shipping me his oem fmic. huge win! FUCK DAVID RYDL :pokeowned:

I got scammed like this via ebay and paypal one time. My saving grace was the fact that i always pay for items via paypal, but pull funds from my credit card. When paypal washed their hands of the matter leaving me $300 in the hole, I called my credit card company and reported the fraud. They credited me immediately and went after the guy!!! First time I was glad to talk to the CC company!

think paypal has some kind of policy if the transaction is over 150 or something, they will holding the fund not to release to the seller til the feedback is good.... just call paypal and request for this service when the transaction is over 150... it works for me...

Dino/Administrator can do an IP ban, but even then there are plenty of work arounds for that as well (Proxy Server, Request new IP from your ISP and on and on and on). The best way is to buy from trusted sources, or pay with your CC or Bank card just in case these things happen (Charge Back). ;)
