: 2010 GSR AP Stage 2 (Overboosting)
Stock? 03-24-2010, 05:21 PM Anyone else overboosting on stage 2?
I know there is a map for over boosting but the thing is i'm not hitting fuel cut which should be at 26psi and i'm spiking 27psi. My wideband is coming in the mail so no AFR's as of yet.

I know i'm not following suit with the mapnotes not having a full exhaust i'm just wondering if anyone else isn't hitting fuel cut.
dsontacchi 03-24-2010, 08:07 PM Mine also over boosts to 28 psi with the boostpill in. Mine only spikes under WOT for just a fraction of a second. I'm also waiting for AF gauge.

dcpatters 03-24-2010, 08:26 PM At what RPM do you see the spike? Does it continue or taper back down? If it's low RPM, high load, most likely expected with a test pipe.
kirk212 03-24-2010, 08:26 PM Before my protune, I overboosted with the regular HKSstg2 map (non LDWG) but when I did, it spiked to 30psi. My car now with a MBC will spike to 27-28 at times and it still doesnt go into limp mode. Im not 100% sure, and someone correct me if Im wrong, but I think the boost has be sustained for a certain amount of time for the ECU to concider it an overboost condition.

Heres the logs... OMFG my injector duty cycle is 95-98%!!! WTF! Please, anyone with tuning experience enlighten me as to why in the hell im maxing my injectors with intake, tp and tune????

Better question is, why are you knocking so badly??? That's quite a bit of knock in the higher RPMs.

pnt1689 03-25-2010, 03:08 AM I am running 27 psi with the pill out. You might be boosting higher because of your elevation. If you are at sea level then you are expected to boost a few psi higher.

From my limited experience, false knock is much more likely to occur at lower rpm(I log A LOT). Yours is at high rpm which would lead me to believe that it's real knock. Up to 11 counts or so which I think is not too good. But I'm paranoid about pretty much everything when it comes to my car, so I dunno. I ran the same map the other day and never got more than 1 count.

With my dyno tune; stock injectors are @ ~82%; 27-28 PSI, then gradually increasing to 100% towards red-line; 20 PSI.

Something doesn't seem right though from you logs. I honestly would ask hollywood to look at them. If I ever have questions about my AP he is the one I would ask.

Also, sorry for the crappy logs... I live and work in DC so trying to get time and space during the week is kinda hard to run logs at WOT lol
I'm getting ready to do this when I get my ap next week. I've found on other platforms that going catless made it much harder to hit target boost numbers consistantly. I spiked alot so this time around I went with a catted exhaust which is going on in the morning. What differences do you see with the pill in as opposed to having it out? Are there adjustment I need to make with my wastegate?
Stock? 03-26-2010, 12:00 AM The other way you can go catless and make your boost more precise is to go external waste gate. I took my pill out once I went AP stage 2. Someone else can enlighten you on making adjustments on the internal WG.
Lesterh 03-26-2010, 12:02 AM I ran the Cobb stage 2 tune the other day and couldn't hit more than 19 psi. It was strange. I don't have the pill removed but I hit 25 psi without a problem w/ my Ivey map. Not sure how that happens.
dsontacchi 03-26-2010, 12:26 PM You have the same problem as me. With the stage 2 you overboost, and with the stage 2 LWG you can't reach your boost target. BTW your knock seems much better with LWG map.

Hassan 03-26-2010, 01:26 PM Mine was overboosting to 28.3 psi stage 2 boostpill removed, So I called Cobb and asked them about it, they said you have 3 option:
1. Change to stage 2 LWG map still no boostpill
2. Stay on reguler stage 2 and put the boostpill back
3. If you still overboosting put the boostpill back and change to LWG map! (I think you should try this option)
So I went with first option and now I hit 23.6 psi and 18 psi to the redline or higher rpm, No knock (0.7 at lower rpm sometimes) :D

Mostly on third gear and yesterday I have tried also fourth and fifth gear, I want to put the boostpill back and change it to reguler stage 2 to see if still works smooth..

Logs should typically be a 3rd or 4th gear pull 2-7k rpm
