: Live forever - take a pill

I've read studies on resveratrol in the past. In lab tests, it's shown to significantly increase the life span of mice and other small animals. However, that was with extremely high doses, which are far from possible for humans to take.

Fortunately, someone has apparently engineered a way to make it so potent that humans may be able to slow some of the aging process and live longer from taking a pill every day.

Check it out:

that will create a further drain on our already stretched resources. humans werent meant to live as long as they live now, let alone longer

What says a person taking the pills doesn't get t-boned by a drunk driver? A lot of good the pills do then...

Well, I'd want to live for a long time, so long as I can be healthy. I think reversarol (sp?) will slow the aging process, etc. So while your dated age may be say..80, your body may only show the wear and tear of a 70 year old or so.*

*Don't take that verbatim, that's just a speculation to illustrate my point.

Definitely a hot issue. My solution: lower the birth rate. Persuade people not to have kids, and financially reward them for not. And if they have more than one or two kids, tax them harder rather than giving them a tax break. All this coming from the youngest of seven siblings.

Ha. I often picked up on the political undertones of many South Park episodes and they usually are dead on with my point of view on things. I wouldn't necessarily call those messages "Republican" per say, but they clearly mock the far left.

Anyway, enough about politics. Must resist urge to talk about politics...

So if you guys could take a pill like the one discussed in that article, would you? Assume it has no ill side effects and was cost efficient.

Let's also assume that it basically took 20 years off the age of your body and mind (versus your calendar age). What calendar age would you want to live until if that was the case?

Fair enough, but most people don't die accidental deaths in our country, so that's less of a factor than the people who die an age-related death.

more abortions = less kids = less traffic and less stretched resources + fetus hamburgers.

Seriously, that's so wrong of me to say. Abortion is a complex issue. Remind me to go off on my bipolar rant about it next time we all hang out.
