What Is Powder Coating?

Powder coating is an advanced method of applying a decorative and protective finish to metals.

The powder used for the process is a mixture of finely ground particles of pigment and resin, which is sprayed onto a surface to be coated. The charged powder particles adhere to the electrically grounded surfaces until heated and fused into a smooth coating in a curing oven. The result is a uniform, durable, high-quality, and attractive finish. Powder coating is the fastest-growing finishing technology in North America, representing over 10% of all industrial finishing applications.

SpeedCircuit is proud to be taking orders for powder coating. Any metal object can be powder coated including (but not limited to) brackets, wheels, transmissions, valve covers, and more. Pricing will vary based on the size and condition of the object to be coated, as well as the effects used on the part. For the lowest price on any given part, send it corrosion and paint free, down to clean, bare metal. If a part is sent in for powder coating that is not clean, bare metal, expect to pay more for the service.
Also, be sure that any object you want coated is free of parts that cannot withstand 450*F.

See attached image for before and after pictures of some brackets that were coated with "chrome" powder coat.

@ Merro - Yup, those photos are hot off the press. If you look at the "before" parts, you can easily find them on the right hand side in the "after" picture.

What's really great is that the parts will look the way they do in the "after" photos forever. If they ever get dirty, they just need a wipe down to look 100% again. They won't corrode, rust, etc.

True story. It's nice to have available. There really isn't anything out there that looks as good, is as durable, and easy to clean.

I'll be powder coating every bit and piece on my evo BEFORE it gets a chance to corrode. I'm anal about how clean I keep the engine bay in my mazda (it's very shiny, as Mr Win knows well from polishing it) but if you let something sit long enough without polishing in the NJ air, it will rust and corrode like above.

how much to powdercoat 4 wheels? (black)

That depends on a few things....

1-Are they new wheels?

2-Will you have them sanded or blasted down to bare metal, or do you want me to do that (latter option = more $)

Where in South Jersey are you? If your not too far away I'll def come down with plenty of parts to powder coat. Ill most likely want to powder coat as much of the engine bay as possible.

how would the shipping work?

The customer would be responsible for paying shipping to me, and I'd bill the customer for return shipping.

Be sure to ship me the wheels with no tires mounted on them.

Assuming you want a single stage coating, you're looking at $90 per wheel.

If you want something fancier (like black chrome, or bright chrome w/ clear coat, etc) it will run an extra $25 per wheel.

If you sand the wheels down to bare metal before you ship them to me, knock off $30 per wheel.

Just got finished testing out black chrome! If you have a chrome or polished part, I can apply a black chrome finish to give it a darker, meaner look.

I tested it out on an old set of sockets, and I left one bare (top left) for comparison purposes. The effect is very cool!

If I drove my x down to you to get my wheels done would it be able to be done in 1 day or does it take more time than that. And would I have to remove the tires myself or could you do that?

The tires would have to be unmounted.

The wheels would have to be sandblasted down to bare metal, so in all reality, it would be best to have the wheels for a few days.

IMO - You'd be best off waiting until you needed to replace the tires so you didn't have to pay for mounting and balancing your old tires.
