: Goals for your Evo X?
Kooldino 08-05-2007, 06:40 PM What will be your long term goals for evo X?
I'd like to put mine in the 11s, keep it relatively reliable, and street-able/daily drive-able.
I'd also like to keep the low end torque as good as stock, if not better.
Kooldino 08-06-2007, 11:49 PM Some weight reduction (100-200lbs) would be nice too. We'll have to see how feasible that is though.
srt4evah 08-10-2007, 04:53 AM No idea yet, but I think having about 350AWHP and some sway bars to lessen any body roll present would be about all I want, and anything to stiffen up the chassy and increase turn-in response. I'm not saying I think the car will be deficient in those areas, but those are things that can always be made better, and that's what makes a car enjoyable to me.
Flat cornering, razor sharp reflexes, and enough power to hold my kidneys flat against the seatback.
silvreclipse 08-10-2007, 10:37 PM for time attack definately i would want to keep street legal though.they should of had crbon components to minimize weight.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me.

carbon fiber = $$.
They do use aluminum on many of the body panels to keep the weight down.

true crabon is costly.any weight on it yet.i checked my dealership yesterday where i had bought a previous eclipse gt.they do not want to take money on the x yet cause apparently the x will be another year.meaning like early 09 before release.i said cool i can wait.but not that long.fictional release dates dont believe.
EndgamE 08-20-2007, 12:28 AM I'd like to remote as much of it as I could, doors, windows, starter etc. I'd like 400WHP and torque around that too. Unfortunely I like bass and gonna put my system in it (form a car a recently totaled) so weight isn't that much of an issue. and most important a radar and laser protection from Calibre cause if you don't have a license you can't drive as least that's what they tell me.

No way will it be an '09.
Classic example of a misinformed dealer.

I was actually thinking of a nice radar myself. One of those ones that have the remote sensor, so you can put the indicator anywhere. That would work nicely for me. Keep it stealth.
EndgamE 08-20-2007, 04:58 AM Take a look at Calibre by K40 electronics it's a stealth install and makes you invisible to radar/laser.
Kooldino 08-20-2007, 05:01 AM Got a link to good a good write up on it?

Kooldino 08-20-2007, 01:24 PM ^Looks pretty sweet. Never saw a radar system that integrated itself into the car in that way.

wow... That is a neat system!!
EndgamE 08-20-2007, 08:19 PM Yeah but it can get expensive quick! Up in the thousands but they promise to pay tickets if you get them.
DarkStar4000 08-23-2007, 01:25 PM My plan is to make it as autobahn ready as possible.

I am a American living in Germany I live in the city of Karlsruhe. I can't wait to get my hands on the EVO X. I will order that bad boy in a few months
Wraith 08-24-2007, 03:30 AM Good thread......:)
OK 1st goal: actually be able to get one (it all depends on how they price it in the Aust. market)
2nd goal: To try and make it look as much as possible as the prototype X car, ie: 20" wheels and see if anyone can supply or is going to make those nice side mirrors etc.
3rd goal: From there, make sure it can deliver 'at least' mid-low 12sec performance over the standing quarter mile run, hopefully this will require only minor tuning, that way it'll remain as civil and untouched as possible - mechanically speaking - don't want to muck about with the fantastic 10 year engine/driveline warranty Mitsu Aust. offers :)
dragonslayer27 08-24-2007, 09:32 AM about the same as above^^^^
_Chris_ 09-26-2007, 10:53 PM My first goal is to find performance parts for the SST. TCM and such. I hope the SST will be Mod-friendly.

Keep me posted….. that is my goal too… :)
Kooldino 09-27-2007, 02:56 PM I think in terms of the SST trans, cracking the TCU will be the first thing you'll need.

There are upgrades available for the VW DSG. LSD/Clutch upgrade and TCM reprograming. Kinda costly though. If it can be done with the VW DSG, why not with the EVO SST?
I just found this....

soopah 09-27-2007, 09:27 PM I think I will just enjoy my stock EVO X for awhile, maybe darker wheels to better complement the dark grey metallic body colour. I'd like to take it to Mission Raceway to track it, nice and easy to start, don't want to blow my rubber off during my first time, I'm an EVO virgin you know!

Ditto, I've been messing with cars for the past decade and I just want an all around nice, sporty new car and enjoy it without having to turn too many wrenches. Tired of parts breaking etc hassles.. that comes with speed. I'll just enjoy what the engineers built for a while and see how things go when the warranty runs out.
Kooldino 09-28-2007, 05:37 PM I can't blame ya.
I'll definitely play with mine, but I'll focus on looks more at first.

That too. The X definitely needs a drop. It would be cool if people start making after marking concept X headlights, those are sex!

Those are nice, but they're going to be $$.
Butyes, I'd want to drop mine.

They look a little too bright silvery, it would be nice for a darker grey metallic colour, or black, but you are right, with various chrome bits on the car they may look good overall. One less thing to buy! :-)
I think that with a dark grey metallic body colour it will look good with red highlights, like the Mitsu logos, the brakes, racing seat belt harness, etc.

I was hoping the side view mirrors on the prototype would've made it to the production model...

Getting extra power sounds promising according to this .
"And proponents of hard-core Evos haven't been forgotten. A gleam in the eyes of the Mitsubishi engineers hints that a few keystrokes in the computer mapping of S-AWC can dramatically alter the car's personality. Couple this magic with weight reduction and some goodies from the lab, and the makings are in place for a Mitsubishi Evo RS model that might take us on a completely different adventure."
My first goal is to get the car and then join the EVO Mile High Club .
Cheers
Michael

I know but these are slimmer.

i feel ya..on that..how botu putting a viper system in there? remote start for the SST??
Dzine07 10-16-2007, 02:48 AM Some weight reduction (100-200lbs) would be nice too. We'll have to see how feasible that is though.
i would think fairly easy...
-spare tire (who needs it)
-Back seat (friends add weight -especially those 380 katies..)
-i heard a rumor they're going to be selling composite door liners for the insides of the evo's and sti's
-is the trunk lid aluminum too??
- lastly, dont get the twin clutch it weighs more and its slower according to this months road and track page 60... they haven't said by how much yet because they're still tuning the TC SST U.S. bound evo..
bTW, im also really wasted right now. latez

is remote start possible on the TC SST????? none of my cars are remote start b/c of my manual... i heard its not safe......... go figure.

tail lights and headlights on the concept are tits. someone will have to make blacked out l.e.d. tailz -im game for those.
Dzine07 10-16-2007, 02:52 AM the room is spinning i gotta go guys.
Dzine07 10-16-2007, 02:52 AM WTF?! am i still typing??
Kooldino 10-16-2007, 04:21 AM i feel ya..on that..how botu putting a viper system in there? remote start for the SST??
I don't see why they couldn't have remote start for the SST. I almost want to say that the FAST system does that anyway.

Believe it or not, your back seat weighs 5-10lbs. Not worth tearing apart your car for.
-i heard a rumor they're going to be selling composite door liners for the insides of the evo's and sti's
Not sure that would help much.
-is the trunk lid aluminum too??
I *think* so.

SATimko 10-16-2007, 11:04 AM Compustar makes a nice remote start / alarm kit that's manual transmission friendly. You have to go through an interesting set of interlocks to make sure that you won't wreck the car, but it's worth it.

Your opinion will change inside of 6 months...or whenever you drive a well modified X, whichever comes first.
UnctrldRage 01-02-2008, 06:33 AM If I choose the Evo X...Ive seen the aerodynamic packages from the Japanese brochures. If the US-Spec model gets those same options thats probably the first route i'll go...The next step will be Weight reduction....From there I'll be using the warranty as a learning period of driving the stock performance numbers...." Learning to handle the ball before buying the Jordans" yah know.

LOL Autocross taught me the limits of the cars (especially with technology today) Will always far exceed my current skills. I was planing to autocross the car and track the car for the times I want to play....Thats probably while I like this EVO
The others were to aggressive for where I could see myself in the car in 5 years...But the X has just enough aggressive to be cool for me yet has has a more matured sense of speed...
The EVOs before screamed Fast...the X does it without screaming ...if that makes sense. atleast thats how I see it.
Dr.EVOx 01-02-2008, 05:51 PM nothing really... I'll enjoy its stock form, thank you very much!
on2it 01-05-2008, 06:07 AM Stealth Radar Detector and laser jammer installed.
GPS tracking and piggy back alarm system installed.
Next:
Stock Dyno for base performance lines.
Mods for 400 HP ATW.
Speaker upgrade with amp
Then find BBS factory style upgrade to 19's or 20's to close that wheel arch gap.
Nothing much else. :)
Goals: 400-500 awhp if possible with the SST and a stupid grin everytime I hit the gas.
_Chris_ 01-05-2008, 11:50 PM Goals: 400-500 awhp if possible with the SST and a stupid grin everytime I hit the gas.
400+ is pushing it IMO. Especially for the TC-SST. But anything is possible.
Aiming high for sure but as ppl start modding the X with 5MT and the SST we'll get to see how strong they are and go from there. Thats why im going to hold off until 09 to get my X.

chindian 01-07-2008, 05:08 PM consistent 11's
LowUFO 01-07-2008, 10:33 PM Well, I've got an MR on order in black (or Phantom Black Pearl to be anally accurate).
So I'm hoping for some reasonably priced aftermarket mods for TC-SST to bring the whp up to a target of 350. Nothing too visual except rims and tint..
In no particular order..
Cat and res delete, some kind of revised mapping, and a slightly bigger turbo if necessary and possible.
Either shorter Eibach springs or a decent set of coilovers.
If there is still excessive bodyroll, larger diameter sway bars, maybe endlinks too.
Remove the spare donut and jack (Saves 45lbs), and put in a can of that tire foam stuff (Adds 1lb).
Maybe change to 19"x9" Advan RS rims painted to match the Phantom Black Pearl..
Put on minimal tint. Prolly 35% sides and back.
