: What the FQ is the Difference?
EvoX-LI 03-06-2008, 02:52 AM :wtfsign:
I looked around, but can't seem to understand the FQ350, FQ400 and FQ500 versions. What exactly do they have different that allow the same engines to create all that HP, and still be covered by warranty. Better question, why don't we have that here, even if it would be an add on by your dealership. (Like the BMW tune)
Kooldino 03-06-2008, 03:10 AM To answer your last question - we don't have it here due to a few factors.
-The company that does the FQ mods is UK based
-It's costly
-The price you'd pay for an FQ upgrade is probably about 3 times the price you'd pay to do it with aftermarket parts
-The US probably has the best aftermarket for cars of anywhere
PDXEvo 03-06-2008, 03:51 AM And this thread has the best title ever ;)
The closest we have had here was the BR cars that a vendor created for a dealership.
on2it 03-06-2008, 09:07 AM I don't think there was ever a FQ500.. although I would have liked to have seen it!! :)
I have only heard of the FQ300 FQ320 FQ340, FQ360 and FQ400.
To create that power they've just added some after market parts in conjunction with some aftermarket tuners.. Those aftermarket tuners have then underwritten the warrenttee on their parts in partnership with MMC.
FQ Comes at a price, and as Dino pointed out you could probably get there (e.g to 400HP) a LOT cheaper in the states.
SpicyMchaggis 03-07-2008, 08:52 PM I've seen the IX FQ400 in person before. Quite the machine..until you see the price tag.
RGory477 03-07-2008, 09:17 PM How much are they?
on2it 03-08-2008, 10:30 AM This was the approx pricing for the FQ IX.. (courtesy of conceptcars.com)
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX FQ-300 £28,039
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX FQ-320 £30,039
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX FQ-340 £33,039
- Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX FQ-360 £35,504
Gumbo will be able to tell us about the pricing for the FQ X's.
Robevo 03-08-2008, 05:25 PM you can make the car as just fast and put around Voltex carbon aero parts, Volk wheels for that price. For me would be just a waste of money.
on2it 03-08-2008, 08:01 PM Yes I would agree except for one point. This is all under warranty. I would pay the extra money for the power upgrade and still be under warranty. I wouldn't need to do anything else except maybe Audio\wheels.

Evolution IX FQ400 £46999. Why, yes, the USD amount is double this, thats not exactly how much it would cost if such a model were available here. For example, it's substantially cheaper to buy a Mini Coopers and Land-Rovers here in the states than it is in their point of origin, the U.K. England is an assbackwards place.

Parnelli 03-19-2008, 06:41 PM I believe the FQ mods are made available by the independent distributor of Mitsubishi Cars in the UK, and the warranty is provided by the distributor, not the factory. The legal setup is different here and it is unlikely that MMNA would assume the risks (liability/warranty costs/etc) of a similar program. But I think the FQ series represent reliable, mainstream mods. I would love to have AMS, Buschur or Vishnu offer a Stage package that essentially duplicates the FQ 340 or 360. I plan to hold off for an '09 MR, by then mods for TC-SST cars should be available... I'd like to run 0-60 in under 4.5 and the 1/4 under 12.5.....
Domo X 07-11-2009, 08:05 PM wasn't there like an FQ460?

I believe these guys pretty much developed the FQs for Mitsu UK. So I will go to them for a one stop upgrade if I'm modding.

yep. I have something similar to the FQ400 tune from them specifically, they had the car for a couple of hours for them to work their magic.
MarkM 07-14-2009, 03:57 PM X is currently
FQ 300 (available with sst)
FQ 330 (available with sst)
FQ 360
FQ 400
Mitsubishi do not export cars to the UK themselves, it's done by a company called colt cars (CCC), who together with EcuTek and HKS make our FQ variants
