: SATimko's Song Of The Day
SATimko 05-11-2010, 12:16 PM Well... I'm going to use this thread for a few things.
1) To make sure I spend more time on here like I should
2) A place to spread some of my thoughts on decent music
3) Somewhere for me to vent, using a song appropriate.
J. Appleseed has his thread on hip-hop, spreading the word of rather unknown artists, and I like what he's done with it. Why not have another? Of course, I'm not trying to take away from his thread. If you dig hip-hop, I highly recommend it. After all, this is the music section of the forum.
So... if you have any thoughts on what I may post up, feel free to let me know. Suggestions for similar artists are also welcome!
To kick things off... I'd hate to sound chiche but, this song really revolutionized the way I looked at heavy guitar music. Up until I heard this song, I felt the only way to get one hell of an ass-kicking song, is to play fast, difficult, and loud. Truth is, you just need to find a certain groove and go with it. No one does it better than the late Dimebag Darrell. From their 2nd major album (not counting the earlier hair metal stuff they did in the 80's), I give you Pantera's "Walk"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkFqg5wAuFk
Johnny_AppleSpeed 05-12-2010, 05:56 AM I digs--I couldn't play the particular video 'cause of copyright laws in Saudi Arabia (where our satellite internet service provider is based), but I'm glad thatchu are gonna start posting one song every day!!!
Lemme know if you're open to suggestions, 'cause I don't wanna steal your thunder or nuffin... I can PM some suggestions, although I see you wanna find songs that kinda represent your mood, is that right??
I've actually been thinking about branching out into some of the other music I listen too...but I don't wanna offend anybody who might be following my thread, haha!!
keep at it...if you figure out how to do your own .flvs (file format for youtube videos, lemme know)
P3@cE!
SATimko 05-12-2010, 11:36 AM Yeah man, I'm always up for some suggestions. It's not entirely based on my mood of the day... but typically my music tastes vary by the day based on what may happen to be going on.
For today...
This song gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. I don't know why, but it's just one of those things where I believe they hit the nail on the head for this particular track. Dash Berlin won many awards for the album this year. I believe this was the first single from it.
Dash Berlin feat. Emma Hewitt - "Waiting"
be sure to watch it in HD.

That's the radio friendly mix. Here's the full version too.

celica2evo 05-12-2010, 12:52 PM alright SAT
you kicked it off right!
pantera is prob my favorite band of all times (just cuz i love what dimebag does with that damn guitar not to mention vinnie killin the drums)
good song though!
SATimko 05-12-2010, 01:17 PM Thanks a lot. I love Pantera. I can listen to Pantera every day. I listen to so much different music that you're going to see me jump from one thing to another in this thread. You can probably see that with the jump from Pantera to Dash Berlin.
celica2evo 05-12-2010, 05:38 PM yeah not feeling the dash...
SATimko 05-12-2010, 08:36 PM It's all good. I have an idea for tomorrow already, but I'm not going to spoil it.
Eyler_Evo_X 05-12-2010, 09:11 PM Thank god for some music with guitar! I used to play rhythm and sing in a band in high school and college, mostly classic rock, alt, and originals. Good times.
SATimko 05-13-2010, 11:52 AM Well, here it is for today. It's been stuck in my head since last night.
Alice in Chains is back, and just as strong as before. The addition of singer Warren DuVall has made them a powerhouse again. Here's the current single off of their latest release. "Your Decision"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D37POA11KY
overplayed and over rated...much liek check my brain.....
SATimko 05-14-2010, 03:16 PM For today's song, I heard this on my drive home yesterday and forgot how much I like the band. Much of their stuff is fun to play on guitar. This one is no exception.
Tesla - "What You Give"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9vwHuCC6nP8
SATimko 05-14-2010, 03:42 PM overplayed and over rated...much liek check my brain.....
Yeah... it is a little overplayed. However, AIC was a huge influence on me when I started playing guitar... a while ago. So... yeah.
SATimko 05-15-2010, 02:38 PM Today's. Fits the mood of the day. And a pretty funny into to boot.
Strapping Young Lad - "Love?" from the Sounds of the Underground tour
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZ_VBf38XUA
SATimko 05-16-2010, 02:28 PM Ok, for today... some Edguy. German metal band who has some pretty funny stuff.
Edguy - "Catch Of The Century"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RF6f6sws2g
SATimko 05-17-2010, 11:34 AM Quite possibly a predictable song choice for today, but in light of what happened yesterday, quite fitting.
Dio - Rainbow In The Dark
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUXSTY9AW-s
Johnny_AppleSpeed 05-18-2010, 02:29 AM Quite possibly a predictable song choice for today, but in light of what happened yesterday, quite fitting.
Dio - Rainbow In The Dark
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUXSTY9AW-s
That song is dope but am I the only one who noticed that it looks like these mufukkas dress like they just came back from a guild raid?! LARP 4 LIFE!!! buahaha
Eyler_Evo_X 05-18-2010, 02:34 AM I'm gonna miss the mythical sounds and epic rock of Dio. Such a shame he had to leave us, but he battled that cancer for a long time. Amazing guitarist, Vivian Campbell right?
SATimko 05-18-2010, 11:09 AM ^Correct, it is Vivian Campbell. Amazing, yet underrated guitarist.
SATimko 05-18-2010, 11:39 AM Song for today may be a two part song choice as I can't decide on one. First, I give you Devin Townsend's "Storm" from the Accelerated Evolution album. Huge influence on me when it comes to guitar playing and song writing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9UvtY3TezI
Second song is by a band called Opeth. I'm a huge fan of these guys and their ability to incorporate so many different dynamics into not only an album, but a single song.
Opeth - "Porcelain Heart"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfT1A5Caq84
SATimko 05-19-2010, 01:05 PM Alright, totally mixing it up, but it's been in my head lately because I've got a few busy weekends coming up.
This weekend: Golf trip
Next Weekend: Grand Am races @ Lime Rock Park
and a few other things thrown in. So... while I'm not fishing, all of the trips go about the same way, and the song is fitting. (Plus Brad Paisley is a beast on guitar)
Brad Paisley - "Catch all the Fish"

THANK YOU! I live in the middle of a billion acres of corn, I was hoping somebody would like country and drive an evo besides me.
SATimko 05-20-2010, 10:58 AM Well, unfortunately, I don't drive an Evo... but I'm on here anyway.
SATimko 05-20-2010, 10:59 AM Alright, for today's selection, I had to go back to some Pantera. This album is one that I never leave home without. Awesome stuff.
Pantera - "This Love"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tymWpEU8wpM
SATimko 05-23-2010, 06:39 PM Ok... I'm now home, but i can't think of anything good right now. I'll try to update this later, or do it tomorrow.
well if u wont , i will
straight off their new album releasing july 13th, this is supergroup hellyeah erforming their new single "cowboy way"
for those who dont know, hellyeah is a metal band centered aound frontman chad gray and drummer vinnie paul and their dedication to dimebag darrell, formerly of pantera/damageplan. the groups music style comes form the old "go out, blast it heavy, and have fun" style that pantera carried during their hayday. its not so much about sounding heavy and giving a dark image, as it is about shredding hard, and having fun doing it. this song is dedicated to the "have fun" of the metal industry.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcrZeDGNOIc&feature=fvsr
SATimko 05-24-2010, 11:26 AM Good choice man. I love some Hellyeah.
SATimko 05-25-2010, 01:21 AM Alright folks. For today we have the godfathers of metal. The one band in the world that got me hooked on heavier music, and made me want to play guitar the most. It sounds like a stereotypical thing, but there's a reason this band is still as famous now as they were in their prime. I give you:
Black Sabbath - "Paranoid"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcSC0B6lbFg
SATimko 05-25-2010, 11:54 AM Song of the day for today. One of those songs that will never get old. The lyrics are timeless and can be applied just as easily today as when it was written. Check it out.
Megadeth - "Symphony of Destruction"

thats awesome! i hope to meet some people at mayhem fest.
SATimko 05-27-2010, 11:37 AM Today's song of the day... well...let me just say I apologize for it. Once in a while, I get on a hair metal kick. Just so happens that it started again yesterday. This song came on on my way into work today. There's also a story behind it... because a few years ago, I got the "but... I'm only 17..." thing from this chick I met at a friend's party. Why she was there, and why I thought she was at least 20 is beyond me... but anyway...
Winger - "Seventeen"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlN3oEjMpUQ
SATimko 05-28-2010, 02:30 PM Today's song... sang it last night with a friend at karaoke. She had just gotten out of a relationship, and she wanted to do the song... so it's fitting.

SATimko 11-16-2010, 04:50 AM Hahahaha, thanks bro. Good tracks, all of them. Matter of fact, I almost went to see the Scorpions on their retirement tour this past summer. I missed it due to prior engagements. I was pissed to put it mildly.
I'm going to try and pick up and run with this again. It's been crazy hard with the slow network, and jumping thru VPNs... well... and the sheer amount of work I've had to do.
