WoW is all I can say!!!
So much fun! I did really well. Placed 5th place. :)
I drove the car with ASC Full on and also partial off. Did not try full off. My best times were with partial off. Full on really slowed the car down. I think if I had a better launch and once I get a better feel for these great brembo brakes I will do much better

i bet you walked away realizing the car handles WAY beyond what you ever thought.

are you still on the stock tires?

Scooter: I beat his time, but for some reason he was ahead of me score wise. I don't understand that.

Newcomer: Stock tires. Stock everything. (except tint and rally armor mudflaps)

Also just a note: This was my first auto X. Almost everyone there had been doing this for 2+ years, so 5th is very respectable! They were calling me a ringer that day! lol

Actually the list is in order of PAX times, not the real times... PAX times are adjusted for the Car Class. Neons are G stock. Looking at the list you beat him by two seconds but the PAX adjusted for the class he is running in.

Look at the records Name - Car - Time - Class - Pax Multiplier - Adjusted Time

Notice you BEAT Howard Leiken even though he had a better time than you. He's in an 05 corvette running in Super Stock though.

You'll get the hang of it... Good luck and have fun.

Scooter- Thanks for the explanation.
In all honesty, I do not believe that neon was stock at all. It had different rims, sticky tires and was loud as hell! Maybe I am wrong though. Either way for a first time autoxer, I am happy. I can't wait to compete again! :)

For a first time AutoXer you did more than fine.

In g stock cars are allowed a catback, that might account for the loud. They are also allowed to run pretty much any tire they want. It has to be on a near stock sized rim I think, but the tire can be a racing slick. It's one of the things about the rules I disagree with (I think stock or near stock cars in the stock class should be on street tires... but who am I to contradict the SCCA) , but oh well. So if they were running hoosiers it would allow them to corner much better even if they didn't have the power you did.

You should check SCCA.org for the rulebook. That said, maybe the guys in the Neon were cheating. Some clubs care, others don't. If it was really loud maybe the guy had a testpipe.

I agree, race tires in a "stock" class does not make sense. Thankfully my club also disagrees with the SCCA on this, so we limit stock classes to street tires.

I think you meant to say "people with brains" or "a person with a brain" Your statement is gramatically incorrect.:neener:

No, I really meant that between the bunch of them, there is at least one complete brain. As opposed to, for instance, Congress. With 535 members, they don't seem to have even one brain between all of them. :harhar: :harhar: :harhar: :harhar:

Come to think about it that guy did have slicks on his neon and I know he had aftermarket rims, but they looked about stock size.

its annoying how the rules work out, we have it the same way with the fully stock classes being able to run r-comps but i guess thats how SCCA wants to do it. But either way congrats on the 5th, i'm thinking about pulling the trigger for the X's first event this weekend. I've been racing my 87 e30 bmw for the last two years and i think i'm finally gonna sell it.

so stop whining and buy some r-comps for the auto-x - small investment really for loads of fun

Note the PAX modifier between two Evo X classes, B Stock (0.847) and STU (0.844). STU has an EASIER PAX modifier than B Stock, meaning the national average times for B Stock cars are FASTER than STU cars.

So, an STU car with thousands of dollars of mods, running street tires with no less than 140 tread wear rating is expected to be slower than a "stock" vehicle with tread wear 40 r-comps.

And don't get me started on B Street Prepared. The amount of $ that needs to be invested to be competitive in that class is just crazy...
