Hey, has anyone installed the Buschur or AMS intake on their X yet? If so please give some feedback: performance, sound, install etc.

I have the AMS one on order, and it should be arriving here soon. I'll give a review on it as soon as I get it on her and take her around the block a few times

Since its just a drop in replacement can you hear the turbo and stock bov more or is it pretty much the same as stock just more power?

$130! That's an expppensive drop in. Might as well buy a CAI unless t he results don't yield anything worth while. Are there any 3rd party reviews/dyno tests of the Works drop in? They are claiming 27hp and 13ft lbs just from the filter... i believe they are forgetting to mention a MBC cranked up a few psi.

Stock I can barely hear the BOV every once in a while if I have the windows down and the radio off. Thats why I thought it might change with an intake but a drop in still has the airbox around it to deaden the sound some.

Just put a universal K&N on it and you can hear the turbo spool and the blow off with the windows up and radio on. Plus you can actually feel a difference. At least I did.

I was thinking of putting a K&N on but i'd rather get an intake system that mounts up somewhere and is a little more stable. Thats why I was asking for any reviews on them. I might just throw a cone on though, we'll see.

For the price of a Cone like say from Peepboys, or Auto zone.
you can get one of them Spectra or what ever you call them for $20.
They are oiled like the K&N Flow just about the same. for 20 bucks.
I would just throw them away and buy a new one every other oil change.

Specifications:
+27 HP @ 5600 RPM
+13 TQ @ 4300 RPM

Does this sound right for just the WORKS panel filter replacement? seems like an aweful lot!!

Thats what works claim. You do feel a big difference.
On my evo 8 the drop in did a difference, but not as noticable as the X.
I believe it!
Especially when the ams intake system is making 45awhp @ 21psi.

This seems to be happening with all the intakes if you add an MBC. People are saying adding the MBC and intake and keeping it at factory boost makes the boost not taper down nearly as much in the high rpms. 27hp and 13tq seem a little high but Buschur without the MBC got 11hp and 10 tq. I think any intake you decide to buy is going to help out this car a lot.

After installing works filter, should I reset the engine by removing negative battery cable, wait a few minutes, the connect again.

Any possible problem caused by resetting the engine?

no, disconnecting the battery will cause no issues aside form resetting your trip odometer and... possibly radio presets/clock, but the nav system kept all mine when i unhooked the battery changing the switch on my steering wheel.

I have Works filter installed, and just bought cone intake with 5" K&N filter.
The direct installation of the 5" cone and intake pipe should flow more air.
But should I change works to cone? I am afraid the turbulence on MAF problem, also the cone do not have a heat shield.
