: Evo X on a go-kart track...

This past weekend I did a track event at a go-kart track in upstate New York. It was a blast and my car performed great, even with my brakes being 100% stock. They did start to fail after about 10 laps (pedal all the way to the floor) I think if I had better pads and fluid, I would have been much better off... my once bright red brembos are now a brownish color :godance:.

My Nitto Invo tires are pretty worn and definitely aren't much of a track tire, but I pretty much knew that already. A set of NT05's will be going on once my Invo's are completely shot. I was running -2.7* of camber up front and -1.5* in the rear with my Whiteline rear sway bar set on the stiffest setting, plenty of oversteer was on tap even with the meaty 275/35 tires. Overall, the car felt great and my AMR coilovers felt perfect...turn in was spot on. Thanks to the super rich Cobb OTS map and test pipe, I was shooting flames out of my exaust all weekend long .

there is a go kart track in WA too, yeah its a lot of fun, very very hard on brakes. i like that one, do they only allow one car on the track at a time? and kudos to you, in my opinion bright red calipers are giant marks of shame.

Good to hear about the AMR coilovers, still waiting on mine... hopefully they ship soon...

What spring rates are you on by the way?

They're worth the wait. My spring rates are 450/550.

Yeah, definitely hard on the brakes, I did 3 cool down laps and my brakes were still smoking when I pulled into the pit and the plastic inserts on my center caps were melted.

They allowed two cars on the track at a time...the rules were pretty lax. It was nice though, since you could do as many runs as you wanted over the course of the weekend and there was almost no waiting at all.

center caps of the wheels u mean? huh, i haven't heard of that....you can get porsche brake cooling ducts that fit over your control arm to help if you continue to boil the fluid after flushing with better stuff

not sure what the ride height is exactly, maybe 1.5" less than stock?

Yeah, center caps of my wheels started to melt, I'll have to remember to remove them for track events. I'll have to look into some sort of brake cooling solution next time I run on this track.

Nope, this was Saint Lawrence Motorsports Park (http://slmp.webhop.net/) in upstate NY, right near the Canadian boarder.

Thanks, It was a lot of fun. I was able to push the car to its limits and not have to worry about crashing into any walls! I did spin a couple of times though.

The Invo is a good street tire, but If if you're doing more than a couple track/auto x events per year, I'd suggest getting a more track oriented tire. I drove my buddies Evo X with stock Advan tires at this track and I can tell you that they do grip better than the Invo's.

Not sure, I've never used them, I plan to buy them as my next tire.

Excellent video.. That is a very bumpy track!

Thanks! Yeah, the track definitely needs some work - the track owner said it would cost upwards of $180K to get it repaved.

BTW - I think I need to put on those Brake Man pads I bought from you now :D.

He let me drive his car for a few laps. As you can see, he's still on the stock suspension. His car pulls quite a bit more than mine, with just a cobb stage 2+ and a custome tune. A good tune will make a huge difference...definitely my next mod.
