hate linux.

(although that may be a biased point of view of a person that spent many sleepless nights in NU's comp lab working on Mentor Graphics desinging processors...)

haha.. sorry. so used to calling it that. Northwestern University.

But actually as mentioned in the post once you get the hang of it its extremelly easy. My actual favorite was running a linux client on my windows pc. This allows all the functionality and freedom with linux while providing all the ease and usefullness of windows (like ctrl-c and ctrl-v... WHAT would i do without keyboard shortcuts!!!)

However, you need to be on a network or have access through a vpn to a pc actually running linux so now that I've graduated I no longer have access to that :(

Assuming you run a modern desktop environment such as KDE or Gnome, you'll have all of your keyboard shortcuts intact.

Windows+R, ALT+F4, CTRL+V, etc etc all work flawlessly in KDE.

I believe that. Sorry only experience i had was with the sun microsystem comps that we had in our tech lab and the shortcuts didn't work and you had to use command line code to open/close/save/run or perform most other functions. Once you memorized the code though then working with the command line prompt is actually quite a blast and quick.

Linux sucks, plain and simple. Its not easy to use, its not straight forward, and everything about it requires a lot of free time and research. Christ, just building a simple build environment seems to take days, even with the so called auto dependency checks. Then, some open source, man titted, cheeseburger, open source idiot, decides to rev the kernel, and all your crap is broken. Yeah, Linux is total balls.

The sad part is I have to deal with it every day, and there is nothing worse then the whole Linux community. Its full of the most ego filled idiots that dont believe in any sort of data validation, and god forbid that you do a null pointer check. They would prefer that you just crash the system.

Well, I could go on, but I need to go finish writing this Leeenoooks app.

P.S.
Linux will never get big until my Grandma can install and use it. And at that point, it will just be OS X or Windows.
