Hello lI have a 2010 evo x and it shifts like doo doo. When I shift in to any gear its notchy and clunky and its stock. My friends evo x shifter shifts like butter so I dont know what to do, is it normal?

Switch ur tranny oil.

This will get better with mileage. Change your tranny fluid and at the very least, upgrade your shifter base bushings and shift cable bushings. A short throw shifter will not make it better, so that is just want to have item.

I switched my transmission oil to Amsoil and it felt a bit better, I heard the Redline Cocktail is even better, but the biggest thing for me was getting some miles on it. The first 2-3k miles are AIDS but after that it's not so bad.

ye i got 3500 miles on it and a short throw shifter still feels like crap but i guess i'll wait it out

had the same problem as you picked up mine back in march. Hit 3500 last week and did my trans change. Used straight redline MT-90 and now it shifts 100% like butter.

It helps with Inertia and balance when you shift. Much like the weight on the butt of a sword helps balance the long blade.
When i made my shifter short throw it got really notchy. Changed the cable bushing and got a little better but when i changed from the stock knob to a solid aluminum one, It made a big difference.

Weighted over leather wrapped does feel better. I am just not sure if it makes that much difference, I have had the stock aluminum one so I canont be to critical.
