Just wondering if anyone got some new info on the MR. Most importantly, any update on the release date?:tumbleweed:

Search the forums. There is plenty of info floating around on the MR. Release date is all over the place. Some people say within a few weeks and others are saying July/August.

it would be absolutely retarded and disrespectful for mitsu to release a 08 model car in august. if they do that, i REFUSE to buy it... unless they beef it up and call it a 09, which i doubt.

and yea i know its all floating around. i just wanted to bump it by making a new topic and hopefully get some new info =P

i was told by my dealer late march early april, then again, they also told me late jan early feb. so, i dont trust them.

also, i got a question... i want my MR with the whole tech package but i also want it white with aero kit. dealer told me they got a white with aerokit in the line-up and once it gets here, they will install the nav and all the other stuff. so my question is... Is it normal/safe for a dealer to do this? I mean, they gotta take appart a whole lot of shit. a lot of wires and cutting frames and fitting in and all that. for some reason, i dont trust that any regular dealer got the skills to do this the right way. especially for a new car and one with such an advanced computer. this dealership is huge though and very nice looking with 3 massive garages. still, im scared... any opinions?

Yea thats the only reason Im looking to buy else where. Love the Evo but Mitsu keeps pushing the date back and is being extremely shady with a lot of things. Im keeping up hope for a few more weeks then thats it. If no definite release date is set by the end of this month then farewell.

I would trust them to put in the tech package. Better them then some aftermarket place. Atleast with them it will be under warranty so if you find anything wrong go back and get a free fix.
They should have pre-cut frames and other stuff to make the install less complicated. If I was in your position I would let them install it.

The truth about the delay as you have probably have read, were some rpm issues at high speeds with the TC-SST transmission. The MR edition will be arriving at dealers the exact same time as they are all getting the same work done together. The dealers will have these cars all at the same time and that will be in June. I am glad they are working out those glitches now before I get the car because it would drive me crazy if I had it now but it was in the shop getting fixed and not on the road getting driven the piss out of. June cannot get here fast enough.

That's not true .. the initial problems surfaced during the October time frame .. and since the relaunch in December, there are no longer any reported outstanding issues with the SST

The real reasons you're not getting the car is there's not enough transmissions to go around for now after the fiasco prelaunch :bowlol:

According to the admin over at evolutionm.net the Mitsubishi rep at the track event they had a couple weeks ago told him that the MRs would start hitting the dealers on May 1st. I was hoping it would be sooner, but I can hold out a couple extra weeks.

I saw an MR at the Hot Import Nights show this last weekend (Los Angeles). It has a Temp. DMV registration sticker on its windshield, and Anaheim Mitsubishi was the dealer. So someone has privately registered an MR already. This MR's got carbon fiber everything - form hood, trunk to interior trim pieces.

You make it sound like MR comes stock with all the CF pieces :p

Anyways, thanks for the info

I think it does have some CF interior trim pieces, but the hood and trunk are definitely custom.

Here're a couple of pixs. Don't mean to spread any more rumors but Anaheim Mitsubishi told me the MR's will be here "the first week of April". That means next week and I'll have to make up my mind between the MR and the M3 soon.

The pieces looked more like stick-on tapes but it was almost pitch dark at the show and really difficult to tell in person either. Yes, it is no MR, just an MR wanna be. But Anaheim Mitsu did tell me to call back next week as the MR's will be arriving. I'll believe it only after I sit in one in person.

Um...a bit slow, I was thinking it would do 0-60 in 4.9 sec and 1/4 miles in 13.6. I will wait for other tests to see if these time are consistent.

I have the brochure handy, it says that the MR has "Phantom Black" trim as opposed to the ""Geometric Printed" trim on the GSR. Not sure if "Phantom Black" is shiny like piano black, but it's definitely different then the GSR.

If the 135i was AWD I might have considered it. I've got to have all 4 wheels spinnin' because that' just how it is...I go to the snow all the time. I see the idiot clowns chaining up and then I laugh laugh laugh.

I'll take it as a summer car though. Maybe I'll go test drive one for kicks in RENO. I think Ill have to leave a kidney as collateral though just to get behind the wheel:p

I don't know man, the wheel gap totally killed the whole look I thought. Something I think that is good is that, Canadian bumper isn't that bad! The back looks A LOT BETTER in person, and I THINK MR has better interior than the base Lancer...

edit: saw a Evo X that is lowered and with the OEM aero kit, it makes the car looks really really really wide, like WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

My wife has a Subaru Legacy I can drive if I really need to drive in the snow. However I usually just stay home when it's snowing outside. Driving in snow is just not fun for me regardless of whether I'm in a AWD or RWD.

Doh..I didn't see your thread on the VIAS. I will hold judgement on the BBS till' I see them in person...right now I'm not liking the split spoke look though. They kinda remind me of some BMW wheels from the 5 series. They looked good on that car but I'm not sure it's what I want on an X. The Enkeis seem to look natural on the X body

Hmm. I have to see them up close and rollin'. For some strange reason I love the Enkei's. Don't get me wrong..I plan on getting another set of wheels. Maybe if I mortagage my house I can afford the TE37's in white I really want.

If you compare the stock 08 STi wheels to these though it's no contest. Those are hideous lol. For a stock wheel there not bad.

I don’t know why some of guy guys think the Enkei looks generic,
I think they look better then the BBS, I know the BBS is lighter, forged and all but
In the look department, I just don’t like the way the spokes are designed. But then that just me.

I completley agree with you. I've never liked that split spoke style the BBS's have. Enkei's look far better to me.

Maybe on a BMW or something the BBS would be cool..seems not to fit the X body style. I'll still wait till' I see one in person. On a performance unsprung weight is always better

04-04-2008, 06:34 PM
I personally like both. I prefer the BBS styling more, especially w/o the powder coating. The BBS rims have a little more shine to them than the Enkeis, which I think look extremely nice powder coated. I'll put it this way... I don't think I'll be changing the BBS rims for a long time (when my MR finally gets here), 'cuz I like them so much, but if I had the Enkeis I would have to powder coat them or replace them.

I like the toys of the MR, but I actually like the styling of the GSR more.. particularly the Enkei's, and as strange as it sounds, those black vents look better to me.
