So who lives in Ohio? Nobody important, i'm sure.My soul hurts.

We cannot give up our right we must fight or we will become communists if we give up all our rights.
I... what?

I'll be honest, I skimmed the bill, but I only saw reference to "two cars" or "one car from point to point", as in, like... a drag race, or something. I didn't honestly see the reference to "exhibition of speed" or "cops gonna crush my Evo for speeding".

Sec. 4511.251. (A)(1) As used in this section and section 4510.036 of the Revised Code, "street racing" means the operation of two or more vehicles from a point side by side at accelerating speeds in a competitive attempt to out-distance each other or the operation of one or more vehicles over a common selected course, from the same point to the same point, wherein timing is made of the participating vehicles involving competitive accelerations or speeds.I am *NOT* trying to be a dick, as uncommon as that is, but can you copy and paste the "exhibition of speed" part that I should be afraid of?

Sec. 4511.253. Every retailer who sells at retail nitrous oxide shall conspicuously post a sign that contains the following language: "Street racing on the public roads, streets, and highways of Ohio is illegal and punishable by a fine, a jail term or prison term, suspension of a person's driver's or commercial driver's license, and criminal forfeiture of any vehicle involved in a street race. Violators of Ohio's prohibition on street racing are subject to increased penalties if the motor vehicle operated by the individual in an illegal street race is enhanced by the use of nitrous oxide." The sign shall be of sufficient size to be clearly legible to a person of normal vision. The department of public safety shall make the sign available at no charge on its internet web site. So? I mean, outside of the fact "I don't run nitrous so I don't care", there's no use for nitrous on the normal streets outside of, ya know, racing, and... well, don't street race?

In fact, doing a search on the bill for "exhibition", which you yourself quoted, meaning, "that word I quoted is in the thing I linked", doesn't bring up anything. Unless I'm retarded.

The bill will also create the offense of “street racing manslaughter” for a street racing offense that results in the death of another or the unlawful termination of another’s pregnancy. Street racing manslaughter will be a felony of the second degree which carries a $15,000 fine, 2-8 year prison term, minimum five year license suspension, and vehicle forfeiture

I'm sure there's a terribly political reason for that, but it made me chuckle. No taking my pregnant girlfriend racing, I guess :(

So the "punishment" is about the same as any other form of vehicular manslaughter? Which is still a felony.

And what's up with the whimpy $15,000 fine for killing someone? In my state a guy with a pound of pot got a $250,000 fine (plus court costs - for possession.

So, as hotdog points out, don't street race. It's not that difficult to understand.

Well, I'm just totally missing any reference to "Speeding" or "driving like a dick head alone without racing someone".

I'd be against THAT aspect; driving fast, alone, by myself, and getting a felony? Well, stupid me for doing it, but I don't see reference to that in the bill.

The Nitrous thing is just RELATED to the fact nitrous is now "outlawed". If you outlaw something, you have to post messages about it; otherwise no one would know. It's not like fucking 3rd graders, which most sane people would know is illegal; it's why 3rd graders don't have warning signs on them, but 16 years old, by law, have to wear a sign saying "do not fuck this". Cause, ya know, some people might not know.

This is just an exhibition of speed law, which is an offshoot of reckless driving laws. This law isn't anything like California or Virgina's dick auto laws. I'm not worried.

I don't think the definition of street racing is as loose as you quoted.

My interpretation on one thing:
If you street race, they will take your ride.

Sec. 4511.251 (E)(1) = we take your ride if you do what's described in division (B). Where division (B) = definition for street racing.
