: Gates311: World's Fastest Evo X.

While out at Infineon Raceway this week doing some testing, we decided to try the car out on the strip. With a race coming later this week, I took it very easy on the launch, but then ripped it once I was off the line.

The result? 11.2 at 137.6mph!!!

The previous record was a 10.17 at 135.9, coincidentally by another AMS 900x package powered car. No tweaks to my Road Course tune, we just ran it as is and it spanked! The car will be setup FOR drag racing and run again later this year, in hopes to become the worlds Quickest AND Fastest Evo X.

That's awesome, congrats!!

Why are you going to switch it over to a drag car? Seems like a waste considering how much you've put into it.

I'm in no way switching it, we'll just be adjusting the suspension and setting up the ECU for drag (ie more power :))

i dont think hes gonna change it to a drag car, i bet he's just gonna do a few drags for all that sponsorship and all the power put into it. i totally would do a bunch of drag racing if i had some sponsorship to pay for my road racing, id be yawning the whole time, but......

With a better launch, more aggressive tune, Mickey Tom ET's, shifting to 5th, and quicker shifting all around you will have a real easy time being the QUICKEST and FASTEST.

A breakdown of the slip:

60' - 2.332
330' - 5.333
1/8 - 7.658
MPH - 106.4
1000' - 9.628

Wow, you would have easily hit 10.6 - 10.7 with a 1.7-1.8 60'.

Uhhhh, Ryan would absolutely destroy me on the 1/4 mile(MR sucks off the line)....and the rd. courses for that matter. BTW...great job again Ryan, and I'm sure if you lost the front splitter, rear wing, and actually launched the car.....You would have def beat the ET record. Best of luck when you guys get out there again.

PS: A 106+mph @ the 1/8th mile in freaking sick!!

I totally understand that you would want to save the transmission with a softer launch, still that 137 mph trap speed on the 4th gear limiter is insane! You're car is super lightweight AND mega high powered now, must feel awesome. ;)

With a more aggresive tune and a real launch and possibly some tires it will definitely be the first 9 second evo x

Goodness!!! 137 mph withe the aero drag STILL on the car!!! That's probably low-mid 140's with all that off.

I hate to think what you will reach at Road Atlanta on the back straight, make sure you put some data in the car for that. I've gotten to 170 in an almost full weight 500 whp Turbo. I know a 700+ crank hp Turbo that got to 180.

If it doesn't skeer you, I could see you hitting 190 mph by turn 10 (just hope you can stop it from that speed).

I was at Sear's Point having my clutch put in by WORKS that week!

Would have loved to see that 1/4 mile pass.

Purpose built cars are great, but there's nothing as impressive as a car that can do Road Race, 1/4mi, Autocross and Daily Driving and do them all well.

I read in the SCCA magazine that Gates is kicking ass at RallyCross as well.

Ryan, you should do a few Autocross events in that Evo just to make everybody jealous. The San Francisco Region Nationals are in 2 weeks! Should be awesome.

a 9 second evo x , that would be a blast!!
i bet a correct gearing for drag, + the neccesary parts = 9 sec. from a thrill ride!
Nope.....that's why I bought the GT-R :shades:

your soo in a hurry to draw such a conclusion , the evo x is still relatively new in the market (2yrs) , lots of R&D's still going on :o

Haha yea dude it's getting pretty quick. I'm having the gears changed out right now to a dog box with some proper gearing....mhmmm 192mph at 9,500rpm. I'll hit you up a little closer to the event man.
Great to see you at the track and in the shop!
Nice to meet you too dude, thanks for the help at the shop.

Haha that's not the same Ryan G, but that's cool. I'm not out west right now, but maybe soon I'll run at AutoX up here in MN for some fun.

Dry carbon.

but a dog box will render the car, not suitable for public roads, still a proper manual gear is needed

It's called good valve springs and aftermarket rods and rev the car out to 8500-9000.

I plan to take mine up to 9500 or 10k if I need to to cross the 1/4 in 4th :)

10k probably won't happen, but 9.5 probably will, whatever I need.
