Get up early for a nice bike ride this mornning. Get about 20 miles in to the ride and a wasp flies into my helmet. It gets me 3 times, as Im trying to get it it crawls under my glasses around my eyes and I panic. I fell hard probably doing about 15-20 mph. Got X-Rays all is good, but rib area looks pretty bruised and road rash all down left side. I just thank god I'm Ok. My bike just has some minor road damage on handle bars and pedals. I did tear up some gloves and some new tri clothing. Been riding for 17 years on road and mountain, and this is the probably the biggest most painful spill Ive taken. Just hoping Ill be able to continue training by the end of the week. Right now its pretty hard to take a deep breathe. Everyone be safe this summer.

That is terrible news! But glad to hear you are ok. Make Sure you take time to heal up properly before you resume; you don't want to extend the injury or its healing time because you rushed the body's healing process.

I hate wasps/yellow jackets with a passion. Luckily your ok and no serious injury came out of this. Hopefully you got to return the favor and landed on it when you fell!
