Please toss me a PM if you can do this. I have the ROM file itself, just getting the "Unknown ROM image", and short of mocking it relentlessly and playing the Green Ranger flute song over and over again, I am unable to figure this out.

But he's Australian, and that makes me feel inadequate, because I imagine him nude, with a gigantic snake around his neck, brandishing a knife. Plus, he says on EvoM he doesn't reply to PMs.

Honestly, I was mostly going off what Clipse told me, since I sent him the map in question earlier.

I can't even find how to find which definition I need, and short of downloading every single one. The only place I found that mentioned how to discover which XML you even need I couldn't really follow along, as it was 3 steps, but the 2nd step deviates from the application I have here.

Like, in ECU Flash. Unknown ROM. Use Wizard. Then... Defined? Or Copied? Or Inherited? I don't even know the next step.

For future reference the ROMID is stored in location 0x5002a, 4bytes worth. But this was zero'd out so you wouldn't be able to tell.

I'm personally at aloss a to why it was done. I'm not a gearhead but im not retarded, so hiding my ability to open it doesn't make a while lot of sense.

I emailed them for both the rom and tje definition so it'll be interesting to side what they say in response.

Initial definition on the XML was done by some 'guy' on the openecu forum ..
After that when you reach critical mass .. they take life on their own and start growing :D

It's stuff like Tephra mods, PSI based Boost control, 30 psi fix, tables not defined in Cobb AP and things that actually work (aka load on a 2010 GSR), that makes me stick with OpenSource.

I understand, but I just don't see WHY they'd do it, in this case. I've spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on my car, and suddenly, zeroing out a few numbers is supposed to thwart me? If I'm going to go to the trouble of pulling the ROM, surely I'll figure out a way past this dastardly subterfuge; I'll email Tephra, the Australian Outback God of the ECU, if all else fails.

Actually .. I made a few roms for some tuners using another portion of the rom for ID .. but switched all the maps around :bowlol: ..

So unless you're using the correct XMLs .. you may be changing the wrong things ..

I can't blame these guys anyways .. its a long road to discovery .. they spend the time and effort to tune the cars .. and along comes a " I'm a tuner because I have a tactrix cable " and pulls the rom .. voila .. instant tuner + $$
