whats really makes Top Gear such a fantastic show isnt just the cars. It's the personalities of the the 3 stars. i hope these guys can pull it off, but im not sure about these 3. who will the US stig be?

tanner foust is a great driver and all and i think he is a good choice to be involved with the show somehow, but his personality can not carry a show the way the UK version shines with the personalities.

i will definitely watch, ill just have to remember not to cringe too much or my face muscles will get sore.

we can be thankful Fox isnt gonna produce this cuz then it would be definite garbage!

I agree top gear is awesome because of the chemistry. I no longer care what cars are on a given show. The specials with crap cars are the BEST.

The editing and music is phenomenal in the UK series. I'm not sure a US network will spend that kind of money.

nothing wrong with the lady stig esp when she beat their asses. but that can be a good concept.

I'll give it a test run, but watching other top gears like top gear Australia, it comes down to the ppl on the show, and top gear UK is by far the best because of Jeremy, Richard, and James.

Not that I've followed everything he's done, but from what I've seen, Tanner Foust's public personality is a bit mild. Not that there is anything wrong with being as nice a guy as he seems, but I don't think a Top Gear that features Tanner as a host will have the same dynamic as the original Top Gear.

In a competition or race:
To me, Tanner seems like he sort of guy that would buy everyone dinner and maybe fix up your car. Jeremy is the sort of guy that would buy you a few pints, get you drunk, and he would sabotage your car in some way. If you wrecked, Tanner would stop to see if you were OK. Jeremy would try to intentionally wreck you into some disaster and perhaps leave you for dead, or at least give the audience the impression of such behaviors.

I'm not saying the show will be bad, but I wonder how the US version intends to keep up the fun factor without being mottled with all the playful underhandedness.

As far as Danica... (really, as the "Stig"?) I don't know a whole lot about her. But I very much dislike this whole branding and type of attention that society has attached to her. Forgive me for saying this, but when discussing a driver or professional where talent is paramount, is gender really that important?

Sure, let's celebrate that we've got a driver with accomplishments under their belt, but making a fuss because the driver is XX instead of XY, in this age, seems a bit backwards to me.

if the uk version represents what they are shooting to duplicate than i think its gonna be a big miss. as everybody mentioned already its really the dynamic between the 3 characters and their genuine knowledge and passion for cars. they may not be race car drivers but they know cars. all kind.

i'd pick Jay Leno, Christopher Titus, & Lewis Black (our version of captain slow, but would be hella funny)
