: AP Can't Identify Vehicle
Slebo3213 08-12-2010, 01:03 PM It powers up and the screen comes on fine. I select install and then it tries to identify the vehicle. After a few seconds I get a message saying it can't do it.
I ran the updater and I think I'm good. Had some issues trying to pull it from the website but when I used the CD it ran through the updater and AP Manager without issue.
This is a used AP and it's my first time using it. Seller insists it was unmarried properly.
Hammy 08-12-2010, 01:08 PM Make sure you're turning the car all the way on right up until the next turn to start the ignition. This will turn on your A/C, cooling fans, and stereo...which is why many people pull the fuses for these things when flashing.
Stock? 08-12-2010, 01:14 PM If it gives you an option to "Install" It was unmarried.
It took a few tries to get mine to install properly. Make sure you have the correct firmware (2010 or 2008)

Ok, so this is technically the "Off" position that Cobb instructs? I had mine in the lock position, just put the key in and left it in that position. Manual says engine should be in "Off" position even though none of the indicators on the actual ignition use that word.
Eidt: Just tried to download the Updater and confirmed I am running the latest firmware.
dminor04 08-12-2010, 01:46 PM mmmm sounds to me like you got one of those cheap chinese evo knock offs...
Stock? 08-12-2010, 01:51 PM Do you have a 2008 or 2010?
Stock? 08-12-2010, 01:56 PM Turn the key to acc (1 click from "ON") click install. You only have the key on "OFF" when you plug the AP in to the OBDII, then turn to ACC (1 click from "ON")

Alright, at least its not a married/unmarried issue. I think it may be an issue with the key in Off vs. ACC.
Stock? 08-12-2010, 02:00 PM THAT is the problem. Enjoy! Did your car make it through the storms??

Yea. She's safe and sound in the garage of my building. You? I think I heard some hail out there.
Stock? 08-12-2010, 05:02 PM My car was parked at Carderock so it wasn't too bad. My car usually is inside a parking garage. :)
Golden 08-12-2010, 07:49 PM Did it install now?
You need your car On but not running. i.e. in the position that you normally drive around in, just don't start the car.

I'm heading out of work in an hour and I'm planning on stopping by the garage before I even drop my stuff off in my apartment.
I'll follow up shortly.
Slebo3213 08-12-2010, 10:54 PM Alright, got it done. Waiting for the rain to pass before I take her out. I played around with the key and it still took a few tries, so I'm not sure what was going on.
Thanks for all the help.
COBB Tuning 08-13-2010, 12:12 AM Just for future reference, and it sounds like Slebo figured it out. The AccessPORT will power on when you plug it into the car even if the vehicle is completely "off" and it will have some limited functionality. However, you have to turn the key to the "on" position so that the ECU powers up before it will flash the car. Glad your car is running and that the AccessPORT is working!
