: A Good Wash
DaemonSadi 04-01-2008, 03:06 AM Ok, the baby is getting dirty. I'm looking for the most simple method of washing her without leaving swirls or anything bad. My eyes are too untrained to notice the difference between a 'good' was job and a 'perfect' wash job so I just need a basic method :P
Any input is appreciated! Thanks.
MooseX 04-01-2008, 04:14 AM well I never wash a nice car without first going to the coin self wash to clean the grit off first. I take my time and get ALL the visible stuff off...then it's home for a soft rag wash with a shami'. Next it's time for the 'blow drive'> 80+ on the freeway for 10 minuts or so....that gets most of the moisture off. A quick buff and it's ready for wax.
I saw a lady at the coin wash using the big soapy broom 'brush' on her new BMW:shades:. She had no clue how bad that was for the paint
Kooldino 04-01-2008, 04:22 AM ^Yeah, i was going to mention that.
NEVER, EVER rub anything on your paint with the exception of...
-good microfiber towels
-A wax applicator
-A buffing pad
-clay bar
-a clean sponge
-bare female buttcheeks
-a california water blade or some replica of one

Is that a liquid car wash brand?
_Chris_ 04-01-2008, 10:38 AM Definitely use microfiber. I bought a bundle from Costco for dirt cheap.

Yeah, it turns your car brown. Give it a try.

Just make sure it's good MF...the cheap stuff can leave swirl marks.
DaemonSadi 04-02-2008, 04:22 AM Thanks for all the input guys!!!

MooseX 04-02-2008, 06:43 AM I know a certain 'person' who'd do it but it would probably cost me around 300 bones and her bodygaurd would have to be there:p
Kooldino 04-03-2008, 08:56 PM Jesus.
By "bodyguard" do you mean "boyfriend"?

Yeah...just make sure it's the carwash where all the 4 wd clubs go:p
I coated my EvoX with a Teflon product, its put a hard shell over the paint and last for 3 years, all ya do is wipe with water and dry with a towel, cant get any easier than that, no need to wax coz it shines up well by itself.

care to elaborate? who makes this...and I guess I can now fry up an egg or two on my hood and it won't hurt the paint, nice
Its called DuPont, took 4-5 hours to set.

love9sick 04-11-2008, 05:56 AM Meh I just wash it. I don't care. I like the car but damn, I would die of stress if I cared that much. Swirl marks wax right off anyways. I wash with a bucket of warm water + car wash liquid once a week. A sponge, usually same sponge as always. Than wax once a month with a pad and wipe off with a microfiber towel.

Brushes mean scratches

EVOLUTIONARY 04-19-2008, 05:22 PM Brushes mean scratches
lol, I know. I was just joking.:p
dcasandman 05-05-2008, 08:30 PM I think car washes have gone a long way. The ones with brushes are very soft. I have had no problems with a new one by my house scratching my car, its super nice. Plus they have Free Vaccums so i dont have to break out the extension cord in my garage. I am worried about the wing getting damaged on the evo though so i will probably hand wash it.
JDub03 07-10-2008, 05:01 AM the ice liquid clay bar works great

Yeah, never ever rub the dirt and grime INTO the car's paint, you'll only scratch the hell ouf of it...might as well just take sandpaper to the finish... :P
I do two soft rag/sponge washes to get the dirt off, but I don't bother drying. The water spots come out an hour later when I clay bar it, then the lube is left on and that gets taken off with the glaze and polish, and once the polish is done I quickly wax the first coat after that so nothing gets on my unprotected paint.
Then once you're done sit back, relax, have a beer and watch a bird shit on your hood.
