You guys are in for a treat. This is a product I've been using for years and impressing many people with. I don't know what I would have done without this thing. I liked it so much I decided to start selling it to spread the love.

They are available for Palm OS and Windows.

This model works on all OBD II vehicles INCLUDING CAN Bus vehicles.

Dyno-Scan for Palm is two products in one! First, it's a full-featured On-Board Diagnostics (OBD II) scan tool capable of diagnosing a wide range of vehicle problems. Second, the dyno package measures engine horsepower and torque, acceleration times, and even instantaneous and trip fuel mileage. Never before has a scanner provided such power and unique features!

Read and clear the dashboard Check Engine light. Access to thousands of generic and enhanced diagnostic trouble code definitions displayed directly on screen.

The dynamometer measures horsepower/torque and acceleration times. Results are graphically displayed with zoom and scroll.

The data logger records live sensor data from the vehicle diagnostic port. Recorded data may be viewed and played back directly on the Palm.

Key product features:

* All 1996 and newer vehicle supported
* Powerful OBD II diagnostic scan tool features
* Turn off the Check Engine or Service Engine Soon light
* Thousands of diagnostic trouble code definitions
* Measure vehicle horsepower and acceleration
* Monitor data with line graphs, bar graphs, and meters
* Record and playback live sensor data streams
* Free software updates
* 1-year warranty

Yes, you read that correctly. Not only can you check and clear your check engine lights (CELs) and monitor and graph what your sensors are doing (which is great for tuning and diagnostics) but you can run the dyno program on the car.

Now don't get me wrong, I still prefer a chassis dyno to this. However, in my experience, this tool has proven to be remarkably close to the output of a Dynojet dyno, and more importantly, it's consistent. It's nice to have this tool on hand for before and after mods to see what was gained or lost.

To get the dyno to work, you have to save a configuration for each vehicle you dyno. You'll need to enter information such as vehicle weight (with you in it), gear ratio, tire size, coefficient of drag, etc. You'll then do a pull in a gear where you have full traction, and go all the way to redline. The program will use the information you give it along with the acceleration it measured (since it knows your speed and your RPM) and ultimately gives you a dyno graph. Very impressive stuff indeed.

Anyway, since the Evo X is on the CAN bus, you'll be wanting the CAN bus model.

Will be ordering, eventually. Already added to list.
Now I have to build a mount for my laptop. Also, can I use that simultaneously with camp 2 @ http://hksusa.com/products/more.asp?id=3471

You'd have to find some kind of splitter to run both at the same time.

A good friend of mine has been talking about buying a version of this for his laptop for about a year now. If I can get it for palm os it'd be heaven and make him super jealous too.

the Auterra is available for Palm OS.

very nice system. The Datalogging and realtime usage is amazing - coupling that with the ability to check/log/diagnose CELs as well and its worth the money.

Hell - buying just an OBDII scanner is like $100+ and this does much more. Definately worth the money for anyone who is modifying/tuning their own vehicle.

I use a similar product called, "Speedtracker" it works in precisely the same way. I compared my Evo X dynojet numbers and the speed tracker results and was pleased to find they were only a few hp different.
I paid a whole lot more than $250 for the Autoengunity hardware and software though... Great find Kooldino!

Can this be used for logging things like knock count/ign timing retard?
Can you hook up an external WB for logging AFRs?
Can it log boost without any external sensors?

Kooldino

You can log values, although I'm not sure if it does knock count or not.

You cannot hook up an external WB to it.

As for boost, you probably can but I have to verify that.

Dino,

1. How accurate is the dynometer compared to a real dyno?

2. I assume this comes with a cable that will plug into the stock port in the X? ( no other hardware or hardwire required.

Dino,

1. How accurate is the dynometer compared to a real dyno?

A lot of that depends on how you set it up (http://www.evoxforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6257), but it's reasonably accurate. In my experience it reads somewhere in between a mustang dyno and a dynojet.

2. I assume this comes with a cable that will plug into the stock port in the X? ( no other hardware or hardwire required.

It comes with an OBD-II cable, yes. However, you do need either a computer or a Palm PDA with a serial cable to interface with the OBD-II cable.
