: First Baseline Run - opinions?

Hi Guys, hopefully I posted this properly and won't get a slap on the wrist :imstupid:

This was run on a dynojet using sunoco 94 - stock tune, no mods. Seems high to me, but it's my understanding that Dynojets figures are inflated compared with other dynos? My goal anyways was just to see what I was putting down stock before I install basic mods (CBE, Cosworth drop-in, and UICP)... I will be going back after the install for a tune, but is this normal for a stock 2008 MR? Why the seizure at about 4500rpm - logically, it looks to me that the car runs too rich...

Not bad for a baseline

but why the crazy readings at +4500rpm? Looks like due to AFR - but not sure why... too much fuel = improper combustion = varying power? Should I stay off WOT until I tune?

Your car is just running rich like factory tuned evos do.

The surge looks weird, but since the a/f is off the chart rich its not a "lean" issue, so don't worry too much.

What is your temp/humidity/altitude? If your near sea level and its cool out, you will dyno higher of course and probably run even more rich.

24C (75F), 47% humidity and I'm at about 100-200 ft - I would think conditions were pretty average. As long as I know that they are commonly from the factory that rich, I'm not too concerned - just a feeling but looking at that graph makes my stomach churn lol

higher than average baseline.. that 4500rpm irregularity is pretty standard, get a customer tune and you'll be away laughing.

congrats on a good baseline.. the average is around 230whp.

You did post properly, no slap required.

I have found mostly mustang dyno readings of 230-240, and have read dynojets will give readings 10-15% higher? Guess I'll have to find a mustang to find out for sure! I know it's just a tool, but good to know the ratio in case the closest dynojet goes down and I need to know what my baseline was on a mustang.

I will be installing my UICP and drop-in hopefully today - will I need to tune? Or will that help to lean out my AFR at wot?

no and no. UICP is a nice upgrade since the stock one is pretty poorly designed and expands under boost.

as others have mentioned the rpm jitters is nothing to worry about. my local shop had to tweak how rpms are read a few times before i got a "clean" pull.

i'd only be hunting for another baseline if you plan on going there again to measure gains after mods/tune.

your graph look very normal for the stock tune. what you should get from it is that your running very rich (expected) and your power falls off up top (as expected)

so everyone will recommend a tune, and this should depend on how soon your adding parts that need to be tuned for. when your getting tuned there are 2 free mods that can help increase power up top. the 1st is crushing your BOV (it leaks) and tighten your wastegate arm. i highly recommend not doing these on your own unless you can fully log (including a/f).

Pretty much every dyno (even if the same brand) will read differently with the same car. Dynos are really only useful if you're comparing the same car or your car to other cars that have run on the same dyno.
