: Just bought a COBB ACCESSPORT. now what?
jacquesrules 09-09-2010, 10:19 PM Hi Guys.
I just bought a cobb accesport for my stock 08 GSR running 91 octane. Any precautions before loading a map? Will switching maps often affect the car's longevity ? Anything I should know? Tips?
Well, thanks.
Your friend,
Jacques
GiLizILL 09-09-2010, 10:27 PM switch asap. You will be fine. Just dont let the AP over heat. it has issues with that
irmerm 09-09-2010, 10:29 PM subscribed. have not purchased AP, but looking to in future.
Even so, the number of times you switch should not have any effect to the best of my knowledge.
bisdakr 09-10-2010, 07:38 PM hook that sucker and and take it for a spin and feel the difference. its a whole new car :) just follow the instruction on it, it says to hook it up to an external battery but I never did and worked just fine.
jacquesrules 09-10-2010, 08:21 PM What's the normal installing time?
I just plugged it in for the first time. The device is installing (not loading a map) and the cobb logo is moving. it's been like 15 minutes. What do?
thanks for quick help
contagius 09-10-2010, 08:24 PM Plug it. Plug it back in and turn your key to the on position. It should read your car within 10seconds or so.
jacquesrules 09-10-2010, 08:26 PM It has already read my car. I've selected my car. And selected install device. now it's been showing the animated logo for 20 minutes.
contagius 09-10-2010, 08:30 PM Is your key in the on position?
jacquesrules 09-10-2010, 08:31 PM tyes sir. I followed the instructions.
contagius 09-10-2010, 08:41 PM tyes sir. I followed the instructions.
Just makin sure man. It shouldn't take that long.
jacquesrules 09-10-2010, 08:45 PM Yeah. It's weird. I just disconnected the AP. Hope I haven't disturbed anything. But with the time it took, I guess the system wasn't doing anything, otherwise it would've finished.
contagius 09-10-2010, 08:55 PM try it again. Maybe it just had a brain fart. Sometimes I forget to press the ok button again. It gives you a warning about a battery charger and you have to accept the warming by pressing ok again. Maybe that was the problem.
Cataclysm 09-10-2010, 09:06 PM Just got my COBB AP today....and all my ETS parts yesterday. Going to install a COBB stg 2 map until I get all the ETS stuff on later this week. ;)
junkdrome 09-13-2010, 06:59 PM Yeah. It's weird. I just disconnected the AP. Hope I haven't disturbed anything. But with the time it took, I guess the system wasn't doing anything, otherwise it would've finished.
Did you manage to get this resolved?
Sean
COBB Tuning 09-14-2010, 06:22 PM There should be a progress bar on the screen when it is flashing. Did you see the progress bar or did it just sit there? Can you describe exactly what happened? Was the car in the "on" position? It is odd that it would just sit there instead of installing. When you plug the accessport in and go to the info screen, what does it say the installed state is?
jacquesrules 09-14-2010, 07:01 PM I don't think my AP was flashing, it was my first time plugging it in, so I think it was installing. there was no progress bar whatsoever, just the Cobb logo moving. Other than that, nothing happened. Sat there for 20 minutes. Key was at ON. I tried "waking the system up" by pressing the keys, but nothing. It says uninstalled in the state.
COBB Tuning 09-16-2010, 05:25 PM The first install is a reflash, but it seems like it never started the reflash process. That is odd. Is your battery sufficiently charged? Did you have anything on like the lights, AC, stereo etc? The car needs to be on but not running.

Curious, Did you purchase your access port form a dealer or from a private seller. I ask because dont Access ports marry your car or something and if It's married to one car it has to get completely un-married before it can be used in another car?
Golden 09-18-2010, 05:58 PM You can't "Install" if it is still married.
