: Hit a pole with my X!
EVOLUTIONARY 04-07-2008, 05:50 PM My parking garage at work has 3 levels. I have always parked my X on the top since there are only about 5 other cars that park up there. Today I decided to park on a lower level since it's snowing/raining all day. I was headin to lunch and as I was backing out I rear ended a damn yellow pole. I'm so pissed! The pole is no more than 3 feet tall and awkwardly set in front of a corner. It was impossible for me to see over the trunk. Luckily I was actually stepping on the brake when I hit so the damage is minimal. It's not notciable unless you look for it, but it's a couple scratches/tiny dents with yellow paint ground into them. Anyone know a good body shop in CO?
I'm actually beating the horse to get my frustations out!

soopah 04-07-2008, 05:56 PM Sorry to hear about this.
Would back-up sensors have helped? I bet they would. This is something I would like to add to my car. I know how to park, but sometimes things are not where you expect them to be, like kids, kids' toys, and short yellow poles in cramped underground parking.
Kooldino 04-07-2008, 06:00 PM Back up sensors FTW.
Sorry to hear about the pole damage, but I was expecting much worse when I clicked on this thread.
EVOLUTIONARY 04-07-2008, 06:09 PM It definitley could have been much worse.
Back up sensors would have helped, no doubt. In my Maxima or Prelude I don't think this would have happened since I could easily see over the rear end while backing up. The EVO on the other hand has a fairly high back and the seat sits really low. I'm 5'8" and feel like I'm 5' when I'm backing up. I'm going to have to look into back up sensors and see how much they would be.
TRUSTcompany9000 04-07-2008, 06:39 PM Lemme make a few phone calls, I'll get back to ya tonight on a good one for ya
ddawg1130 04-07-2008, 09:22 PM F back up sensors. Go work consturction for a few summers like i did. Drive around a pickup that you can't see out the rear-view mirror. Had to be one of the greatest driving lessons I've ever had. I now instinctively always look to see whats where behind my car before I get in.
As far as "kids" getting in the way... thats not a worry cause I don't think they would leave a dent or scratch. Maybe some of those REALLY fat ones.
EVOXCO 04-07-2008, 09:47 PM Take your car to Hanks they do the best work in town #303-424-4242 that is the west store they have a south store too but I don't know there #.
_Chris_ 04-07-2008, 09:47 PM Sorry to hear that. Id get that pole taken down... with a sledgehammer.
EVOLUTIONARY 04-07-2008, 10:02 PM I used to take my Prelude to Hank's up on Colfax and I-70. That the same one? They definitley did a great job. Can't believe I forgot about em.
:bowlol:I'd love to take a sledge to that thing!
ddawg: Good call. I guarantee I'll start looking behind my car now.
TRUST: Thanks for looking into it. Let me know what you find. It never hurts to have a few options.
EVOXCO 04-07-2008, 10:05 PM more like I-70 and Ward on the frontage road. But the south store is at Kippling and Belview-ish. I know a guy on the EVO forum that I am on that works there I could get you in touch with him if it would help.
EVOLUTIONARY 04-07-2008, 10:07 PM Oh ok. That's where Enterprise takes their cars. That's why it's familiar. Yea, if you have an e-mail or something for him that would be great.
EVOXCO 04-07-2008, 10:08 PM I will work on getting that for you I should have it by Thursday.
Reveers 04-07-2008, 11:16 PM You're right about the viewage from the rear mirror being teh suckage. My X has the short wing from the non SSS package and it blocks everything right at that height were you would either need to peer back and down over the trunk-lid or straight back to look into the whites of the eyes of the driver behind you.
Kind of annoying? yes.
Glad your damage wasn't too bad, I was expecting worse.
RGory477 04-07-2008, 11:30 PM damn yellow poles, if it was blue it wouldn't have cause any trouble like this
EuroCollision does good work also - http://www.eurocollision.com/

Yea, without a doubt! I still can't believe I hit it. The last time I hit something with my car I was 16. That was nearly 11 years ago!
RGory477 04-09-2008, 09:53 PM dude thats no biggy at all i could hardly even see it

A little bit of rubbing alcohol and that scuff'll come right out!
EvoXMan85 08-24-2008, 08:46 PM I feel you dude. Some jerk really nailed my driver side door with unimaginable carelessness. The dent is rather huge and I would really like to know the douche bag who did it. I think It happened at a movie theater, where I specifically parked away from the masses...lol. Oh well... Going to take it to Mitsu..see what they can do.
