: ProCede or UNI Chip?

Can I get everyones' take on these. I'm def' going with a piggyback to hopefully protect my "warranty". Vishnu is fairly close to me (3 hours drive)so I'm leaning towards ProCede. They claim 75 whp over stock with just a tune...and Perrin is talking 50. If we leave price out of the discusion which would you opt for at this time?

If I had the choice between the two rightnow with distance to the vendor and price not being an issue I'd pick the Perrin option.
The initial testing reports they put up were impressive and very well done. Look at all those shiny graphs.

yeah Perrin is looking good...I'm not really too eager to 'tap' into my stock wires and 'rewrap' my wire looms though. I'll do it if I have to. I'd like to see some pics of the 'tap'. Maybe PDX' will post some install pics after his Perrin visit

Hey Moose, I'm just scanning the Vishnu-Procede thread now and haven't located the answer yet. Is the procede system a replacement for the ECU in the car as opposed to the piggyback with the Perrin?

edit: NM just found the answer

FWIW, we are not modifying the ECU at all. Just the signals coming into and going out of it. We do this by intercepting a few wires in the ECU harness and feeding them to (and from) our PROcede computer. Easy to do without any cutting and is 100% reversible back to stock.

So this is different than the Perrin system how?

It's a piggyback like the Perrin...not sure what the actual diffs' are but maybe someone can chime in on the details. I believe Vishnu is plug and play though

A step by step How To is definately in order.

I'll stick by my first choice with Perrin.

well that might be the way to go...it's nearly half the price which is big. I'll sit back and watch for a bit to see how well some others do with them

I will be doing a step by step as we do the install, so no worries there guys.

I dont have any experience with either of these products yet, but Shiv has been working on the Proceed stuff for a long time now, and has been able to eek every bit of power out of that thing. From what I understand, you need to leave a module plugged into the OBD-II port for Proceed, and this is not an option for me. I would constantly hit it with my legs.

I truly believe that Perrin will be getting more power out of this setup as time goes on, and more cars go through the process. I also like the multiple map option, and I have heard of some upcoming things with the Unichip that I find very exciting. I will know more later this week though!

Just based on numbers posted, it seems that the proceed has the unichip beat. I'm sure down the line both products will be updated. Apparently PDX knows something I don't know which is why he's going with the unichip. I guess we'll find out once he has the unichip installed.

When you say numbers, I am assuming you mean horsepower numbers right? The reality is that both the Unichip and Proceed solutions will have the same tuning capabilities, so those numbers are just a matter of tuning.

Perrin is starting to sound like the logical solution being that it is way less $$. If I get to 300/300 with UNI CHIP and some flow path mods ( drop in, midpipe, IC Piping, catback) I'll be hot damn happy. The extra $$ I save with Perrin will allow me to pay for some of those mods. All this talk of easy power is startin' to give me a riser.' yeah baby

Yeah, one lesson you guys have to learn is to not always buy the product that has the higher dyno chart assoicated with it.

With some companies, when they say 50hp they mean it, and other companies say 50hp when it's actually 35. Just keep that in mind.

yep you gotta' mod responsibly..I'm sitting back for show and see how it ends. You have to admit when Shiv' claims 75 with just a tune that's pretty damn crazy good and hard to resist. A grand is alot though...I'm still suffering from purchase shock here. 5 and change...now that's a price

I'm not too sure about the PROceed. A lot of people on evom forums have had bad experiences with Shiv and are saying to stay away. I know he has done some great things with the 335, so hopefully all those customer service issues have been solved.

I thought that Shiv's tune was done with an exhaust as well.

75whp w/o exhaust, 100whp with.

Is the UniChip able to tune fueling/spark/MIVEC? And when would you expect to start hitting the limit with fueling/spark control and have to move to a whole new ECU?

^ I'll second that. I live fairly close to Vishnu. It would be great if I could drive right up for that pimp tune

You can contact Perrin directly for the Unichip. I believe they may be selling these now, though I am not certain. Adam, can you chime in on this?

hmmm edmunds inside line seems to think that the shiv is legit. I think that makes the procede at least semi legit? Am i wrong?

I dont think it is that Procede is not a good product from what I understand. People with EVO VIII and IX say that they stopped providing them service on the other forum. I hope this is wrong cause the Edmunds review is awsome and I have talked to BMW owners they love the product. I really wish Mitsu had a dinan type program that allowed tons of tuning with a warranty.

that would be nice. They don't seem to give very good warranties from what i've heard. BMW on the otherhand does bc they undertune their products!
