what the heck, that site isn't blocked from work.

the tv my wii is hooked up to isn't progressive scan even (480i ftl) so I don't watch dvds there.. glad people got it working though.

It's just a software thing, I don't know why nintendo is so against that functionality. "It's about the games" I know but .. there's a web browser, news, weather, etc.. why not play movies?

I think the Wii in Japan plays DVDs.. read that somewhere.

I'm not going to mod my Wii and make it so that I can no longer update or use the online store stuff so no thanks :P

I was surprised to see a new warning message last week when I updated.. warning users with modified systems that the update might break stuff.

I agree 110%. Sure, it may cost them a few bucks in royalties for the codecs. So what? Make us pay a $5 download fee for it. I'd buy it.

For that boot disc to work you have to already have a modded Wii.. at least that's what I understood from the little article thing
