try buying a bmw...

place order at dealer... he's provided a slot number...
depending on the demand the slot may be immediate or a month,two or more out.

constantly checking the bmw owners circle website hopeing its started...

once build has started it will take around a week. now your car sits waiting on the transport train... could be delayed a day to week.

then its at port again could be delayed a day or 2 weeks.

now you keep searching the vin on the cargo shipping website which takes two days to update. you'll be at sea when you finally find out.

now you watch the slow tug across the atlantic via GPS. hopeing crosswinds and currents are helping travel time.

Now it finally makes it to port (east coast if your lucky) and wait a day or less for them to unload.

now its at the bmw PDI place... if you can get a tour do it. anyways depending on shipping damage, service updates, backups , customs , it could take a week to a month to get out of here.

now it takes a day to get to your dealer, they PDI it and your in your car a day or two later.

not fun.
