: TEIN Mono Flex coilover + EDFC
I've had these parts installed for a while but I just didn't have time to take pics and make a post. I have it about 2 inches lowered in the front and about 1.5 inches in the rear. The ride is great, on the softest setting it feels just a little bit more stiffer than the stock. With the tires I have right now (Yokohama A13A), I have it adjusted to 7 or 8 in the front and 9 or 10 in the rear for winding roads. If I make it any stiffer, the tires just give. For expressway driving, I have it set to 4 in the front and 6 in the rear, no rolling, it feels really solid.
As for the EDFC, I recommend it for everyone with an Evo X. Without the EDFC, you'd have a really hard time adjusting the rear shocks thru the small access hole. As for the front, the adjuster is on the bottom of the shock so you'd have to stick your arm in the wheel well to make the adjustment. The EDFC lets you adjust the shocks right from the driver's seat. When the wife and kid is in the car, I can easliy change the setting to the softest setting.
on2it 04-13-2008, 10:34 AM looks fantastic SIC!
simechua 04-13-2008, 01:38 PM Good to know Sic.
I'm deciding between these, the Cusco Zero2e and the HKS Hypermax III.
I'm kinda leaning towards the Hypermax because they offer quiet rubber mounts.
Noise and comfort are probably more important to me cos I only track 3-4 times a year.
Are your tein mono's noisier than stock? I'm asking cos previously my tein flex's were noisy.
Still, the EFDC's are cool.
DaemonSadi 04-13-2008, 02:00 PM That is he perfect drop. Nicely done SiC. Most I've seen so far look to be dropped a bit too much, but that is perfect.
socalevox 04-13-2008, 03:34 PM dam looks sweet, do u happen to know if TEIN has lowering spring yet
Mr. Win 04-13-2008, 04:45 PM Truly the only way to go. Very nice.
Jackygor 04-13-2008, 07:26 PM Very nice SiC :)
ddawg1130 04-13-2008, 07:34 PM where did you get the from and/or how much were they?
jasyn 04-13-2008, 09:48 PM can u show where you mounted your edfc for future reference :)

If you're talking about road noise, the front has adjustable pillow ball camber plates so, yeah it's noisier than stock. The rear has rigid plates with bushings so you can barely hear anything from the rear. I was leaning towards the Cusco Zero 2E but they still haven't put them in production yet so I couldn't wait and bought the TEINs.
As for the price, I paid about $2000 USD for the Mono Flex and the EDFC/motor kit.
I'll take pics of the EDFC location, it wasn't really much to take a picture of so I didn't take any :p.
ARC_EVO 04-14-2008, 06:29 AM ^ i hate you :( haha jk love your evo SiC....i would love to live in Japan...i'm heading over there in Dec....saving everything i have lol i heard its pretty pricey!! but i know its worth it...
ohh and congrats on the coil overs :)
simechua 04-14-2008, 07:05 AM Thanks for the info SiC.
I wouldn't describe the sound coming from my previous Tein Flex's as road noise. It was more like a knocking sound. It probably needed to be serviced.
Doesn't matter now since the car has been sold.
Now looking forward to the delivery of my SST and joyfully contemplating the mods I'll do :)

Knocking noise would probably come from worn out pillow ball upper mounts. You'll probably get the same noise from the Cusco suspension (if you get the ones with the pillow ball upper mounts) when the upper mounts wear out. If you were getting the noise with new suspension, the only thing I can think of would be a defective upper mount or a loose shock absorber inside the shell case.
X-MAN 04-14-2008, 11:59 AM Looks good!!
chriz 04-14-2008, 01:22 PM SiC, are you on 18" Wedsport SA70 Black chrome rims? Mine is a Blue X and i'm thinking of changing fm my 19" chrome rims to the SA70. The black chrome looks mean...

Kooldino 04-14-2008, 02:04 PM Very nice.
What kind of noises does it make now that it didn't before?
EVOLUTIONARY 04-14-2008, 03:44 PM Sick, SiC!

Yeah, those are Wedsport SA70 Blue Light Chrome (black chrome). The sizes are 18x9.5 +32. I heard that 19x9.5 +20 fit without the wheels sticking out of the wheel well.
Very nice.

Nothing big, just a little more road/tire noise. I don't have any chatter yet, but I'm sure I will in the future when the upper mount ball joint wears out.
Added a picture of the EDFC, nothing special just mounted below the ASC button.
jdm_evo 04-15-2008, 12:17 AM looks great! cant wait to have some more options in the states.

They were quiet at first but gradually grew noisier so you are probably right about the upper mount wear.
Sigh... I really like the sharp handling offered by pillow mounts but I can do without the eventual noise.
I think I'll give the Hypermax III with the rubber mounts a go this time round.
Thanks again SiC
jie-evo 04-22-2008, 04:10 AM i'm waiting for the tein flex for the x to come here , love my flex on the 9 no noise noting , ..

I opted out of the EDFC for my TEIN's SSP's, but it is still available to get these. If anyone wants these coilovers, let me know! Check the sig!
SiliconTek 06-17-2010, 06:35 PM Does anyone know what the default drop of these are out of the box over stock? Granted they are adjusted to the reference from the installation instructions. From what it looks like it is -2.2 front and -1.5 back.
