: COBB MR in-gear idle?

Both Cobb maps I've tried for my EVO MR idle at 1400-1500 when in gear, stopped, brake on. is this normal? Is it to allow for better clutch engagement from a stop?

Not normal, cobb maps suck... Time for a real tune :neener:

Real tune = who? I trust very few, and HB Speed can't seem to answer PM's or emails....while holding on to my $100+ dollars still.

You trust very few but you run a generic map designed to run on any car that tends to overboost, not meet proper AFR's, and weird problems like you're experiencing? Kind of going against your own beliefs there my friend.

Sell the accessport, get a tactrix cable, pm clipse3gt and get an e-tune. Done.

I don't trust individuals who have very little reputation to lose. What recourse do i have if some small-time tuner fucks shit up? There are many people running COBB maps, so at least it has some element of safety to it until I can find a good tuner.

Have you recently updated your AccessPORT and downloaded a v1.07 map? That should solve the issue. We take umbrage with the notion that our map "suck". Is there a reason that you feel this way?

Jon at HBSpeed is in the process of closing down his shop and is moving over to our new COBB Tuning SOCAL location. Please send us a message at jon@hbspeed.com and he will get it taken care of. In the future, you will be able to direct all your requests to Jon at COBB Tuning SOCAL!

Travis: Do you have 1.07 maps for the 09 world market Evo's?
http://www.accessecu.com/accessport/mitsubishi/AP-MIT-002/EVOXIntMaps.html
this shows only 1.06 maps for the Canadian cars.

I'll send another message to jon. I understand he is busy....but some direct communication would be good, so at least I can plan around his schedule a bit.

lol you think cobb is going to buy you a new engine if yours blows? What recourse would you have if a cobb map was on the car and something blew up? Seriously?

Your outlook on the situation is not right. Cobb maps are worse for your car than most amatuer tuners are able to produce, hell with my current knowledge base I'd feel safe saying I could tune a car to safer standards than cobb OTS maps.

Just assuming someone isn't a good tuner is your first mistake, talk to the guy, ask him about some of the work he's done, talk to some of his customers. Unfortunately your assumptions are working completely backwards right now, you're assuming cobb maps are safe and that "small time" tuners aren't. Sure I'm not saying you should go and let some guy you've never heard of tune your car but do some research man, find out for yourself who you should and shouldn't trust. Cobb maps are garbage and so is cobb support (yes I used to have an accessport and went through a lot of trouble to make it run properly on my car)...

I'll be the first to say that there are some very very knowledgable AWESOME tuners on this site who would be willing to work with you, just have to put the effort in.

Yes, there is a reason.

I had an accessport and I experienced many problems.

1) The maps available at that time overboosted and ran terrible AFR's on my car

2) I phoned, posted on cobb forums, posted here and did everything I could to try and get help but none was given. It was more of a "sorry nothing we can do at this moment because these maps are designed for so many vehicles some will react differently"

I ended up re-tuning my cobb map so that it ran properly, had to put in hours of research and still felt sketchy doing it but this was my only choice.

I'm actually rather suprised you posted in this thread already with a suggestion for help :+1: for that.... However I still think a custom tune/open source is the way to go.

My outlook is incorrect? You have a chip on your shoulder against COBB, and thats fine.
Stop assuming what I am thinking. There are many people out there running OTS maps with no catastrophic failures. Until I can get a tune, it is what I will be using.

Okay, sorry for trying to suggest something helpful... You're right, cobb maps are safe good tunes because lots of people use them.

What you are doing is slamming a company on a forum, and suggesting I go with whoever you suggest. I already stated I'm using the COBB maps while I wait to get a custom tune, what more do you want?

A forum is here for sharing your experience and speaking your mind, I'm not 'slamming' them for no reason... I'm stating exactly what happened to me.

I suggested 1 person who would be willing to work with you after you ASKED, if you don't want to work with him so be it.. I ALSO mentioned that there are MANY knowledgable great tuners on this forum who would be willing to work with you, I don't care who you work with, you do you.

You think I give a crap what you do with your car? No I don't... I came in here to offer a helpful suggestion which I thought would benefit you in the end, you clearly don't agree with it nor do you want it so be it, that's fine.. I don't want you to do anything, I spoke my mind and that's what this forum is for.

I asked if the in gear idle was normal for COBB tunes, thats it. Not for random suggestions of "tuners" who I dont know, and have what credentials exactly? Stop trying to make it like I'm attacking you somehow. Jesus.

Weebles,

We always post on these forums in an effort to assist our customers with issues that they are having. I will say, however, that the notion that our calibrations are "not safe" is rather misleading. I realize that your experience with our off the shelf calibrations was less than optimal, however, there can be a myriad of reasons for this and it can be difficult to pinpoint why one user seems to have issues while the vast majority have few to no issues. However, we do offer AccessTUNER Race for free, for those users that need special tuning or need to tweak their maps.

Cataclysm,

The current maps are only for USDM, we are still working on the World Market fix I think, but I will make sure that this is the case. Also, I have talked to Jon. I will see to it that your map is served, I believe he is waiting on a mod list. Please send this again and you can email it to me as well at travis.geny@cobbtuning.com and I will forward it directly.

That was not the intent of my original post, otherwise I would have asked. It was simply a response to your "real tune" comment, and was facetious.

Travis: email sent to both you, and Jon.
For now....I might drive softly on the stock tune to avoid the idle issue.

Travis, how can I modify the 1.06 Cobb tune? When I try to open it in ATR it says it's not a proper basemap and will not load. I want to change the In-gear idle to proper values.
