: 08 X TTP TUNE #S Vs different dyno #s
moorebl 11-02-2010, 03:50 PM so when i bought my 08 evo it had a tune on it from ttp in orlando florida. ttp claimed a little high numbers from my tune and from my butt i knew that my car wasnt producing what they claimed. so i got the x pulled on another dyno
nothing was changed not one part.. just wanted to clarify what ttp claims on there dyno vs another dyno 800 miles away..i live in va and got 3 pulls on ALL ASPECTS DYNO in chesapeake va. here are the mods on my x
TTP tune
aem intake
invidia downpipe and exhaust
mustang dyno
367 whp 332 torque @24psi
3 dyno pulls at ALL ASPECTS yielded
324 whp 310 torque @23.28 psi
no changes were made
the car does run great just wanted to compare ..here are the sheets..1st one is ttp and the 2nd is a more realistic dyno at all aspects...enjoy my comparrison

dminor04 11-02-2010, 04:57 PM date printed was over a year ago?
hotdog 11-02-2010, 05:01 PM He said that there was a gap between the two, but if no mods changed... well, should be the same set up.
40WHP difference is amusing to me. That's a larger than 10% difference.
When you're out-horsepowering a DJ, you know you're doing it wrong.
weebles 11-02-2010, 05:02 PM lol a mustang that reads 40whp higher than a dynojet? :bowlol:
moorebl 11-02-2010, 05:33 PM yeah when i got the car the previous owner gave me the dyno sheet. having other cars i know what 350 360 etx feels like..sure enough this led me to believe there was something strange. my car runs like a champ and the tune from TTP is solid but the results they claimed were just bonkers...if your a numbers whore i would say tune it on their dyno....the results were amusing... now that i have a correct baseline i can begin my madness. thanks for the comments
Do Work 11-02-2010, 06:45 PM I remember when I said on evo m that my 370 whp stock turbo X would make 400whp+ on the TTP dyno and they bet it wouldnt. should of taken the drive and made an unexpected drop in
SiliconTek 11-02-2010, 07:07 PM This is exactly why I put no faith in dyno numbers, to much variability even among the same brand and model.

No, TTP is just garbage

EvoX2NR 11-03-2010, 01:31 AM Last year there was a tuning day at big valley and a guy that got his car tuned at TTP the day before lost 30 peak hp on big valley's dynojet... he wasnt happy

You won't find any 2 sets of dyno's from the same manufacture providing the same numbers unless they were calibrated together onsite. Seems pretty simple, X mass over X distance in X time... So easily fucked up for some reason. Virtual Dyno seems to be more reliable, lol.
Golden 11-03-2010, 02:46 AM That is not how a dyno works. It's x mass at y diameter accelerated at z rate. The car is not moving on a dyno.

our local dynojet reads spot on with every other dynojet in the world. So that is reliable. VD put my X making 489 WHP on 26 psi on a stock motor FP red. you think thats realistic? If so, Then I have the highest WHP stock motor/FPRed X on the internet! LOL

I have seen plenty of dynojet numbers that are BS too.
NUmbers are only as reliable as the shop putting them out...I'd say over half the shops are all about the numbers game and do what they can to manipulate them.
Honestly, I see more DJ shops whose numbers just don't add up over anything else and they always say, well its a DJ it can't possibly read wrong...look uncorrected numbers blah blah blah.
TTP's dyno is a great example of how a dyno just reads off as this thread shows.

dynojets cannot be calibrated, they are set up from the dynojet employees and thats it. Mustang Dynos, however, Can be recalibrated. (sp) .
you can however use different correction factors and such which may yield 10 or so more WHP on a dynojet. also depending on the outside conditions.

and we have all aspects here in vabeach and Mach V about 4 hours away. Both dynos put out identical numbers within 5whp of eachother and thats just the condition.
InnerControl has proven this as he was protuned by Dan at MachV on COBB and made xxxwhp and then came straight to All Aspects and made withing 5whp of the machv numbers. Both dynos are Dynojets. Installed years apart for eachother.
