I have a feeling that many of the future evo X owners here have never owned a boosted automobile before.

Myself, I've had (and still have) one boosted car. It wasn't boosted from the factory, but now it runs 19psi of boost on a GT28RS turbo.

Turbo cars are fun, especially since they're so tunable. The only thing you probably won't like about driving a turbo 2.0L is the fact that the car will be weaker down low than what you're used to. Power is generally nonexistent until 3000rpm, then it surges on strong.

Definitely not. before then, the turbo won't really be adding much power...certainly not enough to make up for the fact that it's 2 cylinders shay and 1.5L smaller than your VQ35.

Yeah, but when you get into boost, it's a disturbing sound when the car's right next to you at 4:30am rounding a turn. All i saw was tire spin, smoke, and you were gone. I wish my P5 wasn't so slow...

I'm hoping for an EVO in a year or two. By then, it should be within reach.

No it won't be my 1st boosted car, I had many different types in the past - including supercharged and NOS boosted, not just turbo forced induction :)

I had a super charged MINI Cooper S (black eye purple!) and I drove the John Cooper Works version at the Zandvoort track. This will be my first turbo car. I currently drive a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid AWD which is nice but boring. We'll keep it as a family and long distance hauler.

I've only known boosted Mitsubishis all my life. Then again, I work for the company.

I've always been a subaru enthusiast...when the WRX came to the states, that was the car I always wanted...so I finally got one in 2004...a week after I bought it I started modding it...eventually I put a vf22 on it and got 288 whp/288 tq...well I had to get rid of it...so I was gonna move up to the STi, but I sold mitsubishis this summer as a summer job and loved the styling of the new lancer and the features and options it had...so when I found out about the X, I knew that's what I wanted...and subaru has upset me with the new STi styling...just horrendous...so Evo X it is...

My current car isn't a turbo.

1st car: 95 Buick Regal - Gotta learn with something!

2nd car: The eclipse - was a grad/bday gift, had to be FWD and under 15k

Yup, the X will be my first boosted car. I've had a 86 V6 Mustang, which was a hand me down. I tried to fix that thing but it was in such bad shape I couldn't keep up. There is nothing like driving in a rainstorm with no heater, no way to de-fog the windows so I had to keep my windows open to help while I wiped down the drivers glass while driving, at the same time the sunroof would send raindrops down to ping my eyeballs, as all that was happening I would have to fight the screwed up steering balance that pulled to the right hoping the car would not do one of its wonderful sliding tricks on the slick road. No words can describe the shape it was in.

So now I have a 96 Cavalier, which I got when the Mustatng became unrepairable, or at least, just not worth it.

My freinds' been letting me cruise around in his IX, so I have a little turbo car experience under my belt.

I too have the same concern, well sort of. I am just wondering if AWD will feel less intense when compared to RWD car, as in when you feel like you are being pushed into the sit.

I wouldn't worry about that. If anything, an AWD car will help push you into your seat because you'll have more traction to do so.

I am actually not to concerned about interior downgrade as well, since G35 has a pretty bad interior :(. I just hope the evo x doesn't have a squeaky interior.

Well, I am a really good driver :D, but really it helps that I live in OC, Cali which is pretty flat and not there is not to many rainstorms. The Cavy has been a good Econobox; less than 3/4 of a tank to get to Vegas, the Stang, however was like 8-12 MPG's at the end of its life. But, yeah with the Cavy, I now have to take turns really slow because the axels sound like they are going to break; the tranny broke a few years ago too, which I got it fixed for cheap; however, there was a reason, that mechaninc was shit. It runs, but it's rough. I'm glad I learned all this before I get a car like the X though, now I wont care so much about the cost, as long as the job is done good and with care.

For what its worth; I know the X is a little more tame then the IX, but my buddy does freak me out and send me back into my seat when he launches his IX(I don't like not being the driver though).

I'm actually looking at two cars right now. The Evo X or the G8 GT...If the EVO drives better for my taste it will be my first boosted car... But I will not be purchasing immediately would like to wait for the first release recall bugs to be worked out...if you know what I mean.

only had one car, which was an 02 accord coupe

it was a brilliant car, with a V6 and used regular unleaded fuel (decent fuel economy)... unfortunately, the car had a tragic accident (no, I was fine.. as you can see I'm typing this currently)... as of right now, still in college.. managing myself by using public transportation. NOT FOR LONG! just waiting patiently for the NEW EVO X!!

I've had 2 boosted cars before. I had a 2001 Civic Ex turbo and a 1991 Crx JDM GSR Swap turbo, then I sold both and got my 05 IS300.

I have had a few turbo cars and still do. Turbos are the best power adders for conventional engines. In fact I own the original turbo cars that started turbo'd cars in the USA. The predecessor to the 3000gt. The RWD torque monster from the 80's!!!!

Nope never owned a car with a turbo in fact.

E46 M3 had 343bhp, plenty of power but no turbo.

350z had 270bhp but no real guts and never felt like it had complete control on the twisty stuff at speed.

Did you like the 350? I couldnt wait to sell it, I only bought it as a stop gap because the residuals were so good.

I loved it, but it was my first and only roadster. Nothing quite like open top motoring.

Performance wise it never seemed THAT fast, though the noise it made was rather nice. I thought it handled the twisties fairly well considering it was somewhat nose heavy though.

Fair enough, Ive never wanted a rag top because I use my car all year round and I dont imagine they are that good in the frost. Or warm for that matter!

I suppose it was the brakes that worried me the most. I was all right coming out of bends but on more than one occasion when braking late it would try to swerve about. I hated teh bloody traction control too, it just cut all the power :(

i like ss cobalts, it was just the for the price i paid for my srt-4, stock for stock the srt-4s wipe the floor with many cars in its class, and were eventually pitted against subarus and evos and held its own and no one can forget how legendary the neons were in the scca,;)
