I just learned how to do this last week. I've been having fun with it ever since! I just had knee surgery so I've had a lot of free time! Speaking of free time...I created a signature last week but am unable to add it. Do you need a certain amount of posts to include it?

Was it this exact method? Historically, i've always used the magnetic lasso tool or the magic wand.

Not that I can recall...how did you try to add it?

Yep...exact same method!

I've tried the download from the computer first, and have also tried inserting from Tinypic.com.

I'm self taught in design and this isn't the way I taught myself. I'm like Dana, I'm the more tradition lasso, magnetic, and uh...forgot what the other one was called. I don't do much lasso (that crap is hard unless you have a steady hand and patience) but it is one way I taught myself.

This method was exposed to me later on and I tried it and just didn't like it.

This is the only way I've tried it...just last week! What method do YOU like best?

Depends on the image.

Sometimes I'll work the outside in. With that I usually use the Magic Wand Tool and change up the Tolerance. Then I just either reverse the selection or cut. From there I'll usually use the eraser to soften some edges.

Sometimes I'll use the Polygonal and once again soften the edges with the eraser or go back to the Polygonal tool and select a piece and soften it with Feathering. It just really depends on what I'm working with. My process seems long but I'm so used to it that it comes to me easier than any others.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to mess around a bit. I just started experimenting with photoshop last week. As you can tell by my sig pic I'm no expert....but it sure is fun!!

I've been doing it for yeaaaaaaaaars and there are still things I could learn. It's a ongoing process of tricks. There are many ways to do one thing which makes it sort of complicated when it comes to tutorials and stuff. You just have to find your own way of doing it and whatever seems easier.

I'll be going to school for Design and I have a feeling it's going to FAIL because I'm not used to the "textbook" way of doing things. Of course, this is what they will teach. You know what I mean?
