Hows it going everyone? Like the title states I am from Pittsburgh,PA but I am based in Washington D.C. (Air Force) I am currently in the market for an 2010/2011 Evo X GSR just waiting for someone to buy the car I currently drive now(08 Cobalt SS Turbocharged) I am 21 years old with a Wife and Child and I just got approved on a 35k loan with a 1.9% rate so I was INITIALLY impressed with the new STI's and I actually ordered one. Day by day went by and I just started to hate the look of the STI more and more so I figured the hell with it I am going to buy an Evo X once my current car is sold. Sorry if I did not post this in the right section but I figured why post on whole site when I can post in the region section to maybe in the future meet up with Evo owners.

I will be purchasing a Wicked White or Black Phantom (probably Wicked White) If anyone knows of any dealerships with GOOD incentives or lower prices please let me know I been in contact with Ourisman, Koons, and Stohlman. I got priced at 35,703.03 OTD with PA taxes if anyone has insight on is that the lowest I will see or can I possibly get lower on a 11 Evo X GSR with 0 options

Welcome! There are alot of Evo's in the area, keep an eye out for CCEVO (Capital City Evolution) meets.

Buy the car in PA. If not, I think you have to pay some MD taxes too. It's always easier to buy in your home state with titling and tags.

If you're selling your new STi pre-owned to buy an evo, you might want to look for a used evo to offset the cost. It's always a little more risky, but not much. It might be worth the risk to not become car broke with a wife and kid to look after.

Whatever you do, try to get below sticker BEFORE incentives. The 2011's are already almost a year old, so you have that in your favor. Make the dealer thing you're sold on the STi and say you're leaning towards a 5.0 mustang or something, too. The dealerships all have the same incentives (based on corp offerings, not dealer offerings), so it doesn't matter. Go over the invoice carefully. They'll try to make it sound like you're getting a deal and add on expensive crap you don't need to make it up if you're not careful.

For comparison, I got my 2008 GSR with 0% financing and SSS for under $27k brand new. Granted I got the best deal ever, but just goes to show that you can get way below sticker if you play your cards right

sorry I must have said it wrong I ordered an STI but I never paid for it so the dealership will just sell it to some other person.... but as for the incentives and dealer tips thanks i appreciate it. I believe they had me at 31,200 before taxes for a 2010 GSR with about 80 miles on it, I checked the average price these machines are purchased at and i was on the good side of the curve so i figured i was ahead of the game

Welcome! From Pittsburgh here as well. You should still be able to get invoice plus 0% on an X right now. There's a black base GSR at my dealership (South Park Mitsubishi) that I imagine you could get pretty cheap. Exact car I have.

not sure but a friend of ours and a CCEvo member is stationed at bowling base in DC. if you meant Bowling. i believe its a joint base. hes navy but his neighbor is marines. i understand its similar. just saying. if so there is a Apex Silver GSR there.(his) and my sister spotted a 2010 WW MR-T there recently too.

Yea thats the base I am on, it was "Bolling" but now it is Joint Base Anacostia Bolling and I never came across a silver one.... I know I seen 2 different guys with White Evo X's but never a Silver.... I will keep my eye out for it.. I am sure if he is Navy he is on the "Anacostia" side as I reside on the "Bolling" side

@BigMike, I seen a Silver Evo 9 MR on base today if you have any idea who that could be?

his is a lowered silver evo X with a carbon do luck style trunk. he lives in belleview housing i believe its most likely in his garage his wifes pathfinder is in driveway. hes over in afghanistan right now so it might not come out that often unless his wife drives it.

Getting a little closer to purchasing what I always wanted found a dealer who will give me 13k for current car (2k) more then all other dealers and 32,900 for a wicked white 11 evo x so hopefully this goes through within the next month

Do you get free housing with your job? If not, I really can't say its a good idea to spend that big of a portion of your income on a car. Don't forget that the cost of ownership is pretty high on these, too. Tires, brakes, fluids, chutch, insurance, etc.... it's not cheap.

have you looked at used evos? you can get them for mid/low 20's easy, and often with some free upgrades thrown in. You'll be living a lot better if you can drop that monthly payment to closer to $400

Yep owe about 15k (2k more then what they gave me) I only talked the price down $400 dollars because all the other dealers were only trying to give me 9-11k for my trade in and this dealership seen my car and literally every customer walked in Mitsubishi would stop outside to look at my current car and he was like we will give you 13k so I figured him giving me 2k more was like i was buying the car for 30k rather then 32k on sticker

Yes I get free housing including all utilities, I thought of used but I am spoiled this will be my 4th car and I am only 21,they ALL have been brand new so I think I am just custom to it. I believe what I will do is put down more money so my loan is alot lower a month try and make it around 490-510 a month

Quick question for anyone who knows insurance. The car title will be in my name only I was wondering in Pennsylvania can I use my parents auto insurance (i am 21 so my rates would be ridiculous) I am listed as a driver on their insurance so I dont see a problem... Or could my parents simply just called Allstate give them the year/make/model/vin and the insurance company will add the vehicle without seeing the title?

should be able to. your military. you can probably transfer your tags. im 22 and im on my parents insurance policy still (allstate) and i think my mom called it in fror me. although were in the same state but i dont see a problem because you are military

I spoke to my parents Auto Insurance and they said no I need my own claim and quoted me at 389.72 a month for full coverage i said hell no and hung the phone up, I called Geico and got a 180.00 a month for full coverage so I am happy with that.... Also learned another thing my parents told me since i was 16 i was listed on there policy as a driver and Allstate told me today I was NEVER listed as a driver :wtfsign: My own parents set me up for failure, but its cool I dont need em anymore

I am Purchasing from King Mitsubishi, I went to Malloy i think the guy I talked to was Brown? They were only offering 10k for my trade so I walked out, but I did test drive like every GSR they had there :rock:

Buy from Rockville Mitsu if you can, they even have special discounts on parts for dcevoclub.com members. DO NOT use Stohlman Mitsu under any circumstance, they are by far the worst dealership that many have had the misfortune of dealing with.

BTW, VA has lower taxes and insurance than PA. I lived in pittsburgh, north hills to be precise, when I bought the car. Something to consider.

kicked ass :) best track day i've done yet. i'm working on editing some videos. also met some new guys from frederick who are interested i joining the lemons team. one is an instructor who's a REALLY good driver, the other is a beginner on the track, but is happy to throw some money at it. i'll hit you up about it later

Where is the nearest track? Also when you say track, is this Auto X and Drag at the same place? Or just one or the other?

Road Course. Closest decent 1/4 mile is MIR. Closest AutoX is at Redskin stadium.

Next event is March 26/27 at VIR again. I'll be there :D They're also doing an AutoX karting enduro. If anyone wants try it out but is a bit nervous trying the full track weekend, I'd suggest signing up for the $50 hyperdrive on Saturday, which gets you one 20-30min lesson on the track with an instructor, and also do some karting while you're there. It's a really great environment. You'll learn a ton and it's just fun hanging out and meeting everyone.

the karting is a 90 min race and needs 2 or more members per team, where each member has to do at least 10 mins of driving. It's a great way to learn how to deal with race traffic, passing, protecting a line, and car control. And their karting track looks AWESOME!
