: Exhaust decision, cant decide

I know there was already a thread about this but I have a slightly different question so I made a thread =).

Anyways first I want the exhaust to sound deep not like a civic or a typical "ricey" car, also I dont want it to drone out on the highway or something to where you cant even tell I have an aftermarket exhaust and lastly ofcourse performance increase. Below are the exhausts I was considering (if there is one I dont mention below that is better for what I want...please feel free to link me :bowlol:)

EDIT: Also I do want it to be emissions legal, seeing as I drive it to work =)

1. ETS exhaust
2. Greedy
3. Buschur
4. Perrin ( I havent found a link to actually buy this exhaust yet though)

any help would be awesome guys, I am alittle new to the aftermarket world with the evo x just so we are on the same page when discussing things.

ETS and Greddy are loud so you can probably cross those off.

Buschur and HKS are the two I've heard that sound the deepest/quietest. If you were to buy today I would recommend one of these two.

The Buschur Site shows an increase of 16hp overstock that nice. How loud is this Love9sick, and how was fit and finish of their product? Was there any problems with install such as modifications to get it to fit? Im really wanting something that is not louder than stock system maybe just alot deeper sound.
Also how was installing the intercooler piping. Is that something a car stupid person could do???

Just listened to the exhaust on Youtube. It sounds pretty quiet at speed. I sounds really good at idle. Sounds much better than stock IMO, and if actually gains 16hp that is sweet. Just from Buschur site 10hp intake, 10hp intercooler pipes, and 16hp exhaust. Thats a pretty cheap 36hp safe bump in hp. With a nice tune to go with it you would be up around 80hp for under 3k. Money well spent.

No fitting problems, had to bend a metal heat shield under the car though. The sound at cruising speeds on the highway is almost unnoticeable. The low growl at lower rpms sounds really nice. It is a very throaty exhaust, very mature when it needs to be, quiet at hight speeds with less than 80% throttle but noticeable and deep when driving through 2-3k rpm. and most of all you can feel the gains. Looks great too. From the description of what kind of exhaust you said you want this is the one.

Nope, for the Buschur one all it took was a jack with two jack stands and a bit of time.

For me for some reason the exhaust after a certain RPM when floored just makes a humming sound. I thought I might have a leak but I don't see any gas or fumes coming out of anywhere. Other than that yea, that is more or less right...the exhaust is pretty quiet when just driving a steady speed...the loudest in just cruising it gets is with all windows closed there is a slight hum.

Ive herd the HKS and Buschur Exhaust, so far. I don't know about true horse power gains, but my vote goes the the sound of the Buschur. I'm leaning towards getting:

ETS catback exhaust
ETS downpipe
ETS intake
ETS upper/lower IC pipe

Question I have is will the downpipe make the exhaust louder? Because I love the deep sound of the ETS exhaust but I want it to hold that deep sound when Im on the highway or when I rev it up

I'm trying to get a video going but my Camera is giving me some problems. Me and a friend installed it all in about 3-4 hours but we were doing other shit like moving cars and stuff during the process and also just taking our time. It isn't a long installation really. The thing that gave us the most problem was the coupler on the intercooler with the UICP. Damn thing is hard to reach the bolts if you don't remove the front bumper. It was all done pretty much with manual tools and not power/compressor tools.

The exhaust is very nice. When you need it to get people to turn heads just give it a little gas. As for cruising speed the tone is very minimal, Low humm. When he gets on it up top though it's not loud at all more like stock. Just going through the gears sounds mean!

I feel like this with all the products. I think if a person can be patient we will eventually see much improved prices as competition heats up, and we will see better products over time (especially as they have inventory and everything isnt back ordered). The only mod i have, which isnt really a mod, is just a HKS dropin filter.Im would love to have the all HKS or Coltspeed stuff for the bling factor alone. Guess what im saying is +1 to that post

I agree to a point.

If they're some shop that just does diesel rigs and doesn't care what you want, that's one thing. However, on the flip side, that's like saying that a shop that builds 35Rs for subarus can't make a 35R to your spec for an evo just because it's going on a different car.

It's all bends, no rattles, and an outlet position/muffler that you're looking for.

The only difference is tubing (thickness/size) and whether they TIG or MIG it.

If you go to a place that falls outside this description, it's just a crappy exhaust shop plain and simple.

Just make sure that it fits well, has .065 wall SS or better, SS flanges, and the welds are decent and you'll be fine.

Yes, I build exhausts for the Xs and I still say this out of honesty.

That exhaust sounds REALLY loud. Even with the windows up.

Maybe it's just a REALLY sensitive camera?

As for the rest, looks pretty clean so long as I'm right in that the intake just *looks* like it's 2.5" piping because of the video and is really 3"??

If it's 2.5" like it looks in the video it's as/almost as restrictive as the stock one and they're on crack for building it that way.

If it's just and illusion, then "nice work!".
