if you are going to autox just get some good tires that will fit your stock rims and put them on for that. your giant baller rims are too heavy to autox, or to even be concerned about performance with.
buying rubber for that wide a wheel just to wipe them seems counter intuitive to your *cheaper is better* initiative.
besides, in a smaller size, you can put more money into the quality, not just the quantity of rubber.
then you call put your gargantuan wheels back on when you get home and ride on rubber bands and be all swoll, or something like that.

Hankook V12's. They do everything well but not great, except they're awesome in the rain. I think I paid $650 or so for 265's. Star Specs are great but gonna be well over $1k.

I agree with using stock rims to Auto-X; huge rims like that aren't going to be conductive to high speeds, and, as you mentioned, tires are more expensive.

I'm a fan of the Hankook tires though, good for what they are.

If you mean G-Force KDW2's then I would pass.

19" wheels are a pain to get good tires for. Are you looking at 265 or 275 widths? 275/30/19 seems like a good size for that wheel.

It looks like the only decent tires in 19" fitments are the Advan Neova AD08's and the Bridgestone RE-11's, but those aren't terribly thrifty.

Hankook RS-3's or Dunlop Direzza Star Specs would be more afforable except they don't seem to have anything that would fit in 19" size.

If you're somewhat serious about auto-x, I'd suggest stock wheels with Star Specs. It doesn't sound like you've auto-x'd before. As such, Hankook V12s are a great idea. They're killer on the street and competitive enough not to serve as the immediate limiting factor around the cones. Good luck.

Hankook v12's it is, because the nittos are just a bit too pricey. now what size 265,275,285.. or larger?
Or do you guys think its best to just buy a set of 18's, because xxr makes a cheap set

i'd get a second set of wheels and tires if you can. stock wheels can be found cheap and you may even be able to pick up some lightly used stock advans as well. The 245s will have more choices and cheaper choices for you to run.

Thanks to some members on the forum (like SiliconTek  ) I picked up a set of OEM wheels and 2 sets of half warn stock advans for $550. No lie.
