: Cm fx 400
stEVOrgiX 03-22-2011, 12:20 AM Just got my new Clutch Masters FX400 in. Had to hurry up on this part since my stock clutch has completely gone out now. I dropped it off at a local shop and am anxiously awaiting the return of my awesome car. I'll let you know what I think of the clutch as I go.
Here are some pics:

lallen3 03-22-2011, 12:27 AM iphone pics?
stEVOrgiX 03-22-2011, 01:06 AM Yeah why? Can't find the charger to my camera. So the iPhone will have to do.
lallen3 03-22-2011, 01:23 AM I looks better than ACT. Don't know why, but it does. I'd like to drive you er.. your car and see what the clutch feels like when you're done.
hollywood_X 03-22-2011, 01:28 AM Good choice, you'll love that clutch
bpeterson20_89 03-22-2011, 01:33 AM I thought you said you were getting a spec 3+.
fckn liar. but yeah I'm a big fan of my FX 400
Are you doing your CMC at the same time?

more like he manned up.
lallen3 03-22-2011, 01:52 AM Ewww cack sandwich
jyamona 03-22-2011, 01:53 AM good choice for sure. did you pick this over the Spec 3+? if so, what was your reasoning? I'm curious since I'm currently clutch shopping for my build
lallen3 03-22-2011, 03:20 AM Probably price. They're both good clutches.
stEVOrgiX 03-22-2011, 01:22 PM Actually availability was the issue here. I originally wanted the FX400 but after some research decided to go with the Spec3+. After finding out the spec clutches are made to order I was kind of forced into going with my original decision. My stock clutch went out and I needed a clutch and needed it NOW. However both clutches are great. My buddy lallen has the spec3+ and I'm sure after some sexual flavors he'll let me drive his car and vice versa. Then I'd be better equipped to say which I like better. Plus I can always just buy a new clutch later if need be. But like Hollywood said it's a good clutch. Both the spec 3+ and the FX400 are good. I'll definitely keep y'all updated on my thoughts and feelings with this clutch.

Don't you ever speak to me like that again woman! And no I'm not doing the cmc just yet. I'm going to be doing just a few more modifications before I deploy and then I'm gettin my car built while I'm gone. The cmc will be done then. Still tryin to decide with Magnus or ssp. Leaning towards Magnus though since they're known to work.
lallen3 03-22-2011, 01:45 PM My car will of course be better. :O
joshmosdef 03-22-2011, 01:53 PM well i just had my clutch replaced, and i went with the fx400. wow i couldn't be happier. i had an act clutch on previous cars and this clutch is much better. i also did the cmc from magnus, and i think part is a must when replacing the clutch. damn mitsubishi for making a f***** plastic cmc?? you are going to want to change the diff pins and change the diff fluid. my fluid was black as night!! it's much cheaper replacing all of the parts, and paying for labor one time. then paying someone numerous times for the same labor to be done.
ZeroCooll21 03-22-2011, 02:01 PM Interesting, deff post back when you guys try both out.
Fredbeanparts is selling the Magnus cmc kit with a oem 9 mc. The issues they were having was due to a non oem mc being used. Magnus only sells the kit without the mc so if you want the whole kit hit fredbeansparts up, they are in the elite merchant section.
lallen3 03-22-2011, 02:08 PM I'm still on ssp

I'll wreck you son. :shades:
Just know that when I got my fx400 installed the cmc went out immediately. Hopefully you have better luck than I did.
I went with Magnus, seems to be holding up quite well, and I romp on it daily.
stEVOrgiX 03-22-2011, 03:00 PM One can only hope. If my cmc goes I'm in for some real shit. And you got an fp black build lallen. I got an fp red build. I'm going to drive her easy til next month when I got some extra funds. I got hit hard recently with my tires needing replaced then one of my tires popping due to glass on the road then my clutch going out. It drained my funds. I'll be back on my feet in a month or so. Granted nothing else goes wrong lol.

ZeroCooll21 03-22-2011, 11:44 PM Haha awesome, great rebuttal.
stEVOrgiX 03-25-2011, 12:56 AM So I got my car back from the shop today. Since it took them so long to get it back to me they didn't charge me for anything extra on the flywheel being resurfaced and knocked off about a hundred bucks for the total cost. So as for customer service NoriBilt has my vote as #1.
As for the Clutch Masters FX400 6 Puck clutch. That's another story. Let's just say I'm going to have to learn how to drive stick all over again. I think I stalled my car out 3 times before I actually went anywhere. This thing GRABS! It engages so fast you don't really have time to ease out on the clutch and ease into the gas. It's just GO or no go. It's simply put, fucking amazing! So the clutch works phenomenally. Let's talk about the chatter. Wait...what chatter? There is none! There's no stiffness, no slippage, no chatter, no bad news whatsoever! So far I give this clutch a 5 out of 5 :rock::rock::rock::rock:
Now I drive easy for a few hundred miles. I'll get back to you whenever I know how to drive my car again.
Note to lallen3: No hating, no spamming, no flaming, no trolling, no shit talking, no negativity. You can just text me if you want to do that shit...hater.
hollywood_X 03-25-2011, 01:07 AM Great clutch and if you pull your restrictor pill out of your slave it will be smoother.
lallen3 03-25-2011, 01:11 AM There's no stiffness....
I quit reading here. ^
stEVOrgiX 03-25-2011, 01:26 AM I quit reading here. ^
I know you didn't. Don't get butthurt cause you know I know you were going to say more.
And what would pulling the restrictor pill out help with exactly? Smoother engagement?
lallen3 03-25-2011, 01:30 AM Less CMC head pressure and a faster slave response. I did mine and it feels better.
stEVOrgiX 03-25-2011, 01:32 AM I did mine and it feels better.
Your car is sexy but...that's TMI sir. Also, that's what she said.
I may just do that then...gunna have to figure out how to do this now.
stEVOrgiX 03-25-2011, 01:46 AM I didn't mention it but I filled up the fluids with RedLine and may I just say so far it feels better. I'll definitely be testing out how the car feels with this fluid. Got MT90 in the tranny and 75w90 in the tcase and rear diff. Quite happy with the feel so far.
lallen3 03-25-2011, 02:42 PM .........and may I just say so far it feels better.
Quite happy with the feel so far.
Good deal man. I'm glad you and your car feel so good.
stEVOrgiX 04-01-2011, 01:56 PM Well I figure I'd hit you guys up with a little update on this clutch after break in. First remember how I said the clutch didn't chatter? Well good news is it still doesn't. However, I have noticed whenever I stall and I have my windows down I can hear a quick little chatter but that's kind of expected isn't it... As for drivability it feels very close to stock but a little bit stiffer, but in a better more precise control way and not in a going to hurt your leg on a long drive kind of way. The clutch still engages very quickly and has given me no problems what so ever. I'm very pleased so far with the clutch and I feel as if this clutch was better designed to hold the power over the small stage 1 exedy clutch that comes stock in our cars (who'd of guessed it huh?) I do recommend this clutch to anyone trying to find a more aggressive clutch that'll hold up to the power better than the stock clutch will. So far so good and still a damn good buy!
lallen3 04-01-2011, 02:03 PM :::hugs my lil Spec clutch:::
stEVOrgiX 06-20-2011, 01:59 AM Just a quick update. Still running this clutch and it's well past the breakin stage. Drive really aggressively sometimes and it feels great. Still engages extremely quickly. I love this clutch still. Oh and I'm still on the stock CMC with ~345 tq. I'd say it's a great buy! I will be buying a Magnus CMC tomorrow and installing that soon though. Anyway, still a great clutch.
VegetaX 06-20-2011, 02:06 AM I will say this is a better clutch than the spec stage 3+. I had the spec stage 3+ clutch and my pressure plate and stock cmc died on me when i had 300 miles on the clutch. It was a special case since we couldnt find out what really was the problem, theres a possibility the shop might not aligned it properly but they have done many clutch installs before. Now i have the cmc fx400 6 puck and i love it, it has a better feel than the spec stage 3+ clutch. I should create a thread since people have doubt between both. Also i only launch the car 1 time with my cm fx400 and i love it, i spun with my winter tires.
stEVOrgiX 06-20-2011, 02:13 AM I haven't launched with mine yet. I'm afeared if I do my CMC will go. That and I don't really plan on launching her til the entire setup is done.
VegetaX 06-20-2011, 02:17 AM im running the magnus cmc is sex...

That :duh: after going through your issue with you I have no doubt in my mind that was your issue. Your story from start to finish was all about that shop messing up and Spec not having great customer service.

yeah i had the worst luck lol spec has a horrible customer service and we dont know who fault is it the spec clutch. Also i took my car to get my new tires install and they broke my tmps, they said water gets in the tires sometimes weak them up? wtf...
