: Looking for an Evo X for weeks now

I sold my M3 a month ago and I still can't find the right Evo X. I'm not sure if I'm being too picky or what. Just want a nice unmolested X with the SSS package for around $25k and I'm starting to think I'll either be waiting another month or driving 300+ miles to get one.

There's a local X here with 25k miles for $24k, but it's not SSS and it's been modded and has an after-market ecu flash. The only way I can justify getting a X instead of a VII/IX is the warranty and niceties that the SSS package offers.

Sorry for venting, seemed like there were a ton of these before I sold my other car.

Stock?

Where are you located? There are definitely unmolested X's out there.

I'm in Raleigh, NC. (Just updated my info, thanks for catching that.)

Don't be afraid to go 300 miles. When it comes to less common cars, it's the norm. In the big scheme of things, even if you had one shipped to you it might be a better deal.

Yeah, plan on driving to get it. Or fly in and get it, one or the other.

As Mlomker said, it's often a wash in terms of cost, driving to get it versus getting it shipped.

I can't bring myself to buy a used car without having driven it first, so I don't think I could get one shipped. I guess flying/driving is an option.

I would reccomend to keep looking and expand your search. Most used cars are going to be all over the area. I know several people locally got their X's from abroad (charlotte, fayetteville, southern va, etc). BTW check the local thread to see if anyone else has seen anything like what your looking for up for sale:

Wow. Can't believe this thread is still on the front page of the Carolinas forum. To conclude this boring story: I flew to Orlando for a vacation, and looked at a black Evo X that met all my requirements. I ended up driving it back up to NC which was entirely drama free. I was worried about the seats but I actually like them better than my E46 M3.

Car has been stock for almost a year now. Looking to fix that shortly. :D

What is even more surprising is that in a year, you have 12 posts. You may be the only X owner is NC. LOL

lol congrats on the car! I think all the NC chatter is in the cacalac's thread which you found already. hopefully you'll be able to make it out to a meet/event as we go to several every year especially once the warmer weather comes out.

Glad you found one. I bought mine on ebay from a dealership in AZ (I'm in IL). Never even saw the car, just liked the posting, liked the couple mods they listed, called the selling agent with a few questions and pulled the trigger.

Felt a little more comfortable buying from a dealer on ebay than private seller though. I contacted a shipping company, had the car shipped immediately up here. To my delight, when the truck pulled up my car was on a rig with 2 new M3's, an M6, a C63 and a S55. Good to see it traveled in style.

This is what I picked up nearly a year ago and it shockingly still looks exactly the same. I had thought about selling it, but now I think I'll keep it for a little while and make it a bit faster.
