: GTS or Ralliart
kill4kandy 04-11-2011, 03:48 PM i bought a 2011 GTS and now that i have it want something faster. I have heard mixed reviews on the Ralliart. Im getting married soon and after the wedding i was thinking about either selling or trading my GTS and upgrading to a ralliart. I am just having a hard time deciding if i want to do it or not. If i upgrade the GTS to make if faster and look prettier, should i just spend the extra cash and get a ralliart? Any advice, knowledge or experience in this is welcomed.
You should just spend the cash on an Evo...you won't regret it. Thats my two rusty coppers...
Heathen 04-11-2011, 03:55 PM I upraded to the Evo from my GTS and am happy with the trade its to much work trying to mod a lancer.

whitecomet 04-11-2011, 03:55 PM Ralliarts can be modded pretty nice with evo parts on the cheap. If you want a auto and don't track get the ralliart.
11XRAY 04-11-2011, 03:56 PM dont consider get an EVO
gamaliel612 04-11-2011, 03:58 PM Hey I was on the same boat last year!! bought a 2010 GTS....Then I realized I wanted a faster and way better looking car plus the Handling and now I'm driving an EVO x GSR!!!(Thanks to my awesome sales agent jose)
.... my insurance company was confused when I switched cars lol insurance agent: " are you trading a lancer for another lancer?"
Back to topic so yeah trade it for an evo ..your payments will go up but you'll get a car you won't regret!! Or a ralliart if you want lol....nah just get an evo
navy8385 04-11-2011, 04:06 PM as a ralliart owner and having friends with evos yea ive pounded my head with my hand a few times i wish i had gotten an evo, however though im under 24 so the insurance would be ridiculous so yeah thats why i got the RA. But the day i turn 24 my RA will be paid and i will also buy me an EVO! But very true all the above statements, its like someone told me baby evo= baby payments kind and baby insurance not really much of a difference in car payments but for me insurance was the "turn off" for me it would have been about a $500 dolla increase in insurance from RA to EVO. I have year long policies but gotta consider other bills having a wife, etc lol. but whatever you decide as long your happy maign. my two cents
kill4kandy 04-11-2011, 04:06 PM thanks for the advice... a couple more questions though, i have heard that brakes and stuff on the evo cost way more to repair than on the GTS or Ralliart. Is that true?
Well, if you don't abuse it, they last a long time. I am at 22k miles and my pads still look brand new, but I don't drive like F1 all the time.
Aftermarket solutions are a little better cost options.
navy8385 04-11-2011, 04:10 PM that is true because the EVO has nicer breaks. they run what guys $300 a piece for the pads.
I think also dont quote me
$300 a piece OEM tires $800 a piece OEM rims the BBS ones.
I buy "like new" take offs for 600-700 for 4 tires. Wheels are already with the car. Get some ROTA for less than a thousand or the XXR for 600.
thanks for the advice... a couple more questions though, i have heard that brakes and stuff on the evo cost way more to repair than on the GTS or Ralliart. Is that true?
Yes and no....if you go with the OEM stuff....hell yes...if you go aftermarket....no not really..you pay for what you get. Just got through pricing brakes and tires...brakes pads are easy... you'll wanna get aftermarket ones anyway with the RA soo yeah. Tires...you won't wanna replace the stock Evo X tires with the OEM ones....way to expensive (1400 for a set)...sticky as hell and a great tire ..just way to pricey...so again aftermarket and your good to go.
You pay for what you get, but your gonna wanna go aftermarket either way...if you go dealer....the RA will be cheaper...but your still gonna get raped cause its OEM.
gamaliel612 04-11-2011, 04:14 PM brakes? like what specific? Regular maintainance won't be that much unless you go hard like autox or drag racing then it might cost you....like what everyone says you gotta pay to play....Oh well my parts are coming in and I'm ready to play lol...I think evo is useless if you just pose or baby drive it....well that's just me...
now back to topic again lol...it shouldn't be that expensive for regular maintainance especially if you can do it yourself
kill4kandy 04-11-2011, 04:17 PM Thanks now i have alot to think about... last question i have is what can you do to either the RA or EVO without voiding the warranty?
Heathen 04-11-2011, 04:19 PM You would be happy with the baby Evo:yay:
gamaliel612 04-11-2011, 04:21 PM it depends on your dealer...trust me it depends on your dealer lol!!
On the safe side the regular bolt ons shouldn't void your warranty...I think...:liar: lol
Accessport can put your base map back....not detectable..i think:liar:
navy8385 04-11-2011, 04:21 PM i forget where i read/heard this warrenty is only voided if the problem is/was caused by the modifications. I think I read it on here.
Right or wrong?
gamaliel612 04-11-2011, 04:22 PM you are right shipmate

kill4kandy 04-11-2011, 06:17 PM Thanks... What do you think i could get out of a 2011 GTS with only 2765 miles? would it be better to sell outright or trade it in?
KickAss 04-11-2011, 06:26 PM i forget where i read/heard this warrenty is only voided if the problem is/was caused by the modifications. I think I read it on here.

Technically you are right, But Mitsu likes to leave the burden of proof on the owner and will accuse you of abuse no matter what. So, if warranty is an issue, I would advise against Mitsubishi altogether. But if you are confident of upgrading at your cost whenever something breaks or wears down, then these are the perfect cars. As for RA vs Evo, I would let price be the only determining factor. If you can aford it, get an evo. If not, don't put yourself in a tough position by buying a car you cannot maintain. Will leave you with nothing but heart-aches and head-aches.
lallen3 04-11-2011, 06:30 PM Evo or bust. Don't get a "almost an Evo," get an Evo-Evo.
I think if you like the looks of the GTS, want to save money, save on insurance and save a ton on gas, keep the GTS for now. Save up and get an EVO when you are in better financial shape.
orange09ralliart 04-12-2011, 01:55 AM Obvy the evo is best car of the bunch, but why pay the price of 2 gts when you can get the happy medium (RA) at the middle price. The ralliart is a great, fun to drive car. If you're not trying to create a 500whp beast it will be perfect for you.
teethandnails 04-12-2011, 03:13 AM Ralliart... they are really great for the money. I almost got one, but the evo was parked right next to it :)
dadsgts 04-12-2011, 05:56 AM Funny this post came up. I seriously just test drove a silver ralliart tonight 2011 model. I have a turbo gts using a evo x turbo and let me just tell you how disappointed in the ralliart i was. Takes a week to get the car moving and its just slow. I wouldnt waste my time on a 28k slow car. Drives just like my gts only slower and jerkier when coming to a stop. It really is a lacking car i wish mitsubishi would drop a 5 speed in the darn thing it would be soo much better at that point.
just for the record i drove it in sport mode with t/c off and no it was slow seriously.
i cant believe they charge that much for that car its not worth 25k let alone 28k.
kill4kandy 04-12-2011, 05:56 AM I don't know if I should post this somewhere else or not but should I just trade the gts in or sell outright? Keep in mind the gts is fully paid for.
disturbedfan121 04-12-2011, 06:14 AM if you can't get an evo a ralliart would be next best thing.
when i went looking around i had dead set on a ralliart sportback, functional, still quick and can be made faster etc... found one for like 26k out the door. stopped at another dealership on a whim and they had my evo for 27k +taxes, i took the evo lol
byebye 04-12-2011, 06:37 AM I don't know if I should post this somewhere else or not but should I just trade the gts in or sell outright? Keep in mind the gts is fully paid for.
If it's paid for you'll get more selling it out right than trading it in. If your financial state says you can keep both than keep both. But if don't need the GTS then sell it and use that cash towards the down on the Evo.
Now how much you'll get for your GTS depends on the dealer and how much they are willing to give you for it towards the purchase of an Evo.
What's your zip code?
USED True market value for a 2010 is ~$12000
2011 is not listed on Edmunds. Mitsubishi's website says a 2011 GTS with m/trans is $20270. Expect the mitsu dealer to offer you a jaw dropping $15000. If you sell it out right expect to get $18000.
Demon X 04-12-2011, 06:41 AM Evo or bust. Don't get a "almost an Evo," get an Evo-Evo.
:+1::neener::dancebanana: lol
kill4kandy 04-12-2011, 01:04 PM zip is 17555.... will the insurance jump be higher with the evo than the ralliart?
HudsonFalcon 04-12-2011, 01:09 PM I was in the same predicament as many on here being a GTS owner and not being satisfied with the "all show and no go" aspects of the car. I seriously looked into the RA but when crunching the numbers the Evo was basically in the same price range as the RA. I ended up purchasing a base model GSR rather than a fully loaded RA and if you can live without the creature comforts (i.e nav, fosgate, etc) like I can than it's definitely the way to go!
byebye 04-12-2011, 03:09 PM zip is 17555.... will the insurance jump be higher with the evo than the ralliart?
Not sure. Just ask your insurance company to give you a quote. But reality is yes. Of course also depends on where you live and your coverage and who you insure with.
