: My ECUTek Tune
Talon_66 05-23-2008, 04:01 AM Just got home from my tune @ Lightspeed Innovations, in Red Deer Alberta, Canada.
My mod list is in my signature, and I did not have my MBC or my Walbro 255lph hooked up for this tune.
My Baseline:
266.4whp and 288.8 Torque.
I had several pulls and several maps, here are a few:
345.3 Torque @ 4000rpm
317whp 2 6500rpm
349.8 Torque @ 3350rpm
3.16.1hp @ 5750rpm
26.5psi and 17psi @ redline.
My final flash (cold)
358.9 Torque, 315.8whp @ 26psi
(warm)
350.8 Torque, 317.5whp @ 26psi
Overall Im quite impressed.

DVDee 05-23-2008, 05:04 AM Hmm... considering the amount of boost you're running and the mod list, I would've expected more. But congrats on the tune. It's a whole new car after it.
on2it 05-23-2008, 05:21 AM congrats! I think 26psi is the highest Ive seen so far... any knock indication while tuning?

I remember there was seeing some knock, but Cam cleaned up the map.
Apparently I still have plenty of fuel to tune with, my stock fuel pump hasnt been maxed out.
I was an idiot and forgot my MBC at home. Cam figured we could have pulled more power out, but we ran out of time
EvoXRacer 05-23-2008, 07:04 PM Wow! That is wicked!!
SuperL 05-25-2008, 08:50 AM "Apparently I still have plenty of fuel to tune with, my stock fuel pump hasnt been maxed out"...... This is TOTALLY inconsistant with every other tuners' results in the world. The stock fuel pump is only supposed to allow a maximum of 380BHP (at the crank) before it gives up. This is why (I am told) The UK FQ360 is an FQ360 and not a FQ380 0r an FQ400 - They needed to provide enough margin for fuel pump degridation due to ageing....
Now, all that being said I have personally seen a X deliver 394BHP and 390lbs/ft on a standard fuel pump with only an 80% IDC and AFRs in the 11s right up to the rev limiter with ZERO knock so go figure...
Does anyone out there have a sensible explaination for this???

I asked, if I should switch to my Walbro 255. The tuner said "no need, youre pump has plenty of room to go"
Im just saying what I was told. I will be installing my Walbro regardless, because it wont affect my tune.
I think my next step is Meth Injection.
Now I need to contact my tuner and ask if I can install my MBC and set it to 26psi.
SuperL 05-25-2008, 09:17 PM The Walbro 255 will not fit without modifying your Carrier. If you have not topped out your pump and getting getting these kind of figures, why bother??
Would be interested in hearing how adding the Perrin improves things..

Im well aware of the modification of the fuel pump housing.
I have higher HP goals then 320whp, so a 255 is necessary.
on2it 05-26-2008, 01:33 AM do you or anyone else know the max WHP that our stock fuel pump will take?

340~350
SuperL 05-26-2008, 08:18 AM :wtfsign: with just a boost controller and Ecutek?? That would be mid 400's at the crank!

Are you talking about my numbers?
SuperL 05-26-2008, 10:12 AM No, I am saying that it is highly unlikely there is an additional 20 - 30 BHP available over what you have seen with this set up. If there was why hasn't anyone found it?? Your numbers are the highest numbers I have seen on the planet for an EcuTek remap on a standard fuel pump so it's likely this is as good as it gets. Even with the Walbro pump, RC Developments in The UK only managed low 300's (302WHP from memory)..

You need to go visit evolutionm.net. My numbers arent that great compared to others. Many of the tuners have found 340-350whp is the limit for the stock fuel pump.
With a manual boost controller my boost wont taper as badly. I should be able to hold a 4~5 more psi, thats where more power will be.
SuperL 05-26-2008, 01:35 PM Thanks - I'll check it out.mid 400BHP at the crank seems very hard to believe with only a MBC and EcuTek but hey, if that's what it is, I would be a very happy guy.
xPRimNT 05-26-2008, 02:36 PM I think you may have confused yourself?
Talon's Mods do not just consist of a tune and MBC. In fact, they don't include an MBC yet. He has a massive list of modifications in his signature...
AMS Front Motor Mount,
AMS Underhood Shifter Bushings
TurboTrix Piping Kit
Forge BOV
ETS Dual Exhaust
Ultimate Racing Resonated Test Pipe
Ultimate Racing Downpipe
Greddy Boost Gauge
AEM Uego
DTM Stg. 2 FMIC
ECUTek Tune (318whp/351 Torque @ 26psi)
WR - 24
Did you think it was just the tune? Or have I confused myself?

The 255 may result in higher fuel pressure, thus affecting your tune...I would invest in a afpr as well.

I wont be adding it until I go back with my Meth kit and another tune.

R you ever gonna come out to a meet and make yourself known?
Let me know if you need a hand with anything. I have a garage, and some tools if you need a hand.
xPRimNT 05-26-2008, 07:52 PM I think I'll come next Saturday. I've been back and forth to Calgary the last couple weekends, so haven't managed to get out to a meet.
If I manage to collect all my parts in the next little while, I may ask for some advice! I was looking at a couple of your photos, and I'm guessing that you live... about 2 blocks away from me.
(The above is to be read with genuine surprise, not with a stalker-like tone)

I live in Ellerslie.
Mightygnu 05-27-2008, 05:45 AM Great numbers! Keep the modding going!
SuperL 05-27-2008, 09:21 AM xprimnt, nope, not confused. My questions were focussed on the standard fuel pump's capabilities and what it was capable of.
Kooldino 05-27-2008, 02:48 PM do you or anyone else know the max WHP that our stock fuel pump will take?
I remember reading a write up that it would supply a LOT of fuel. Maybe 500hp worth?

Yea, I don't think its the Fuel pump, it might be the injectors, need to look at my IDC graphs again.
Although a fuel pump is always a good idea, I just suggest staying away from Walbro...

Nice.. what is the cost of all mods in the car...

Look at that power, the cost is irrelevant! lol!

Well because I live in Canada and get screwed on shipping...
Rough figure is about $4800
