So In my opinion I have finally learned to launch my car properly, so i have decided to head to the track tonight to see what the old girl can run. All I have is the AEM tru-boost and the k&n cone filter. I was thinking about dropping a gallon of Toulene in the tank tonight before the drive up there, what do you guys think?

Paint thinner, toluene? I have no clue what that would do to your engine/performance. Is it a common race fuel additive?

It's a fairly common additive. There's a bunch of information on the net about how much to add.
However...
Is it necessary? I haven't been to the track (so I can't speak from experience), but I doubt unless I was heavy into it that I would use additives or race fuel.
I would just take the sweet car to the sweet track and take some sweet corners. Find some 94 octane if you really want something more, but I don't think you'll need it! I think the race fuels and stuff really only shines if you tune for it.
Have fun, take pictures.
(Off topic, but... How do you like the Tru-Boost? I've read mixed reviews...)

Honestly I just put in an hallman MBC and unhooked the AEM one. I still have the gauge though. I hated the AEM, it was too hard to dial in correctly. Put with the hallman it is already running better. I have decided to not put in the toulene thought. They sell race gas at the track. But I am going to skip that until later. Wish me luck. I will post the numbers up tonight. This is my first time going to a track so the numbers probably won't be too good.

So I just got back and didn't do as good as I thought I was going too. I gess I need some more practice launching this beast. The following where my times:
1. 14.1
2. 14.4
3. 13.8
I was getting a little better but it was late and the stage line was long as hell. Not to bad for just a mbc and cone filter plus an amatuer AWD driver.

those are some decent 1st times. I think the launch comes down to how much you want to stress your stock clutch.
You would probably get the same times stock.
I think road and drive or one of the other car review mags rates the car at 13.5 stock. I havent found anyone who's got that. And magazine times are usually a bit slower than what people claim they get on forums.

what was your 60ft?
And at what rpm did you launch at?

+1 ^^
Also, what were your trap speeds?

On the 13.8 run my 60 ft was 1.9 and the trap speed was 101. I think the fact that it was 101 degrees at the track when I was racing made a little bit of a difference. I have decided to take the cone filter off and put the stock box back on with a hks drop in. But I am going to go back a couple of weeks from now and see what I get.
I was launching at 5500 rpm. I kept messing up at the line which made a difference plus I will admit I was a little nervous.
On my first run I had a good launch but they put me against a 69' Camaro SS that ran a 9.7 against me and when he zoomed past me it startled me a little bit and I jacked up the third gear shift.

Taken from another forum:
Just wanted to no what you guys thought. Took my Evo X (STOCK) yesterday to the track. Area 51 speed way at Rowsell, NM. First time ever driving an evo at the track only owned the car for a month. Car has 1100 miles. I ran two 13.6 and two 13.5 best time was
60 FT ------1.9839
330 FT------5.6348
1/8 ET------8.6969
1/8 MPH---81.06 MPH
1/4 ET-----13.5056 MPH
1/4 MPH---102.95This car can go faster at sea level. This run was done at 3600 ft. I'm not saying I could do the same, but with the right driver a 13.4 isn't impossible.
Those are decent times for your first time at the strip though. Good job!

I am looking at my time slip right now and I have a question when you guys race do you redline every gear. Because that is what I did and I am looking and I had a 60' time similiar to the guy who ran a 13.5 but my 1/8 et seem to be a bit slower (MPH).

Run it past redline until fuel cut ~7600 rpms but time it right so that you don't bang off the rev limiter

thanks that was what I was doing but I hit the limiter once on the 14.4 run.
