: WORKS Brain Flash for the X

Just thought I would post up my results from getting this done. Let me start off by saying that their bone stock X made 207 whp on their dynapack. The dyno was calibrated 2 months before I got mine tuned. They cannot explain why they get really low numbers from a chassis dyno.

Baseline dyno was 244.2 hp, 270.3 ft-lbs with a MBC, Works drop-in filter, and SpeedCircuit test pipe.

After the flash was installed and tuned, 282.8 hp and 285.9 ft-lbs. This was done WITHOUT the MBC and with their boost hose installed. You can see how the boost holds a little better with the boost hose. My fuel cut has been increased to 7700 rpms and the launch control has been set to 6000 rpms (Could have been higher, but I don't launch my car very hard). Also, the sensitivity of the throttle could be adjusted.

The night before, they pulled 288+ hp because it was much cooler in the shop (~80 degrees). I had this all done at their location in Sonoma last weekend, which was one of the hottest weekends of the year up there. It was 100+ in the shop when I got there at 6pm to pick up my car. They had just run the final dyno graph on there. From what I heard, my car had been on the dyno since about 10AM that morning. They did well over 60 pulls.

The car pulls a lot harder now. 30-80 mph is absolutely ridiculous. I'm sure it's similar to the Ecutek tune. I'm getting seemingly better gas mileage, although I can't stop hauling ass onto the freeway.

There are a lot of good things I need to say about Works. They are extremely busy, but they like to spend time on their products. They love hearing customer feedback. They treat their customers like long-time friends. I needed a ride back to my uncle's house where I was staying (the O2 sensor on the dyno had broken right before I got there so they needed my car overnight), but instead of giving me a ride home they gave me their shop X to drive around until my car was done.

They gave me a killer deal too.

So in conclusion, I'm up almost 80 hp over stock with just a tune, a drop-in, and a test pipe. I am installing a 1-pc Nisei UICP, DTM intercooler, and hopefully a straight pipe exhaust by next weekend. The guys will be down in So Cal for a dyno day next Friday, so I will be getting retuned.

Congrats on those numbers and I'm sure those other parts will help out alot. Are you going to put an exhaust on there besides just the test?

Thanks, yeah I'm thinking about doing custom straight pipes. We'll see what happens. I'll keep this thread updated.

Hey Ouano I just want to make sure I understood correctly. They raised your rev limiter to 7700rpms and your factory 2 step to 6000rpms? I don't think this can be done still on Ecutek.

Correct. They can raise both of them all you want, but they said to stick with 7700 on the stock engine, and I opted for a higher but conservative 2-step for my needs. They also have the ability to tweak throttle sensitivity, which I don't think Ecutek can do either.

Nice, it seems Works did a great job with their flash. Too bad for me because they're in Cali.

They are still perfecting the mail-in tune, but it should be done within the next few months. They also were thinking about offering a programming tool for the DIY tuners to mess around with from what I heard. They have a lot of other things going on, so it takes a while for them to finalize their new products.
