: Gauge Power while IGN off?

So I was wiring my gauges today and I set up my AEM wideband with no trouble.

My Defi gauges however are proving a bit of a pain. It has 3 power lines, IGN, Accessory, and Battery. It seems that the Acc line is just a dimmer so i don't think I need that. But EVERYWHERE I hook the IGN up to the gauge lights up with power immediately. Any ideas? It does nothing with just the red Battery line hooked up but the orange IGN line lights it up and powers it regardless of what else is connected or where I attach it.

HALP!

red is ignition wire, orange/yellow is 24 hour power. (usually)

Thanks! My buddy said try the white wire alone so I'll give that a whirl.

When I was wiring up my radar detector, I was looking for switched power in the glovebox.

I should have taken note at what color the wire was for switched power, but I do remember that the red wires I tested were always 12v.

If you have a multimeter, it's testing time! Where are you wiring it up? I remember what glove box harness/pin position I used for switched, but not the color.

Blah, white or white and red did nothing.

I may give up and take it to a shop... which would suck because of all the wasted time and I don't know when I'll even be able to take the car somewhere >.<;

I was trying to directly tap the fuses...

I don't think you should hook everything up to the same fuse. One is constant battery power for memory and warning settings. One is ACC to turn the gauge on when the key is turned on. The last wire is for illumination, this dims the face of the gauge when driving at night.

Well I didn't use the the illumination one if that helps... I think if I wanted to now I could move the red battery wire to something else. Thanks SiC.
