: someone please set me strait about the hks camp2
redmachine 05-26-2008, 05:12 PM OK--before i go and spend all that cash on the camp 2 i just want to be sure this thing will work with the stock nav. and that it will work while driving. Also i believe there is another component i need to buy in order to have a boost gauge with it---is this the case? total cost? will a mitsu dealer instal it? Guys please help out this noob.
Jackygor 05-26-2008, 05:30 PM I need to know this as well...
macPSU 05-26-2008, 05:32 PM I'm interested in this info too...I don't think the other threads have given a clear answer.
flagg77 05-26-2008, 07:43 PM Same here man. My reading of other threads on the CAMP2 seems to indicate that it requires just RCA jacks in. The stock navi (at least on my GSR) does not have the Video in (yellow jack).
Thats problem #1.
Problem #2 is that the AUX input (i.e. the rca jacks) via the stock Nav will cut out the video channel once it detects that the car has started to move. Heck, when i hook up my ipod to the car, it still pops up a msg about "video cannot be displayed while driving" even though all i have hooked up is sound.
I *really* want one of these man, here's hoping someone figures this out!
TriStateEvo 05-26-2008, 07:53 PM - Mitsubishi dealer will probably not install this, as the instructions are in Japanese and it requires many sensors to be installed for it to run to its full potential.
- No fix yet on the AUX video cutout when driving.
Kwiq Niss 05-26-2008, 08:56 PM You'll also need 44008-AK011 (I/F Unit)
and 44999-AK021 (Boost Sensor and Harness Unit)
if you want the CAMP2 to also serve as a boost gauge.
redmachine 05-27-2008, 02:01 PM thanks kmx---i guess aftermarket nav is the way to go if i want this thing

The yellow rca input is extraordinarily simple to install. I did it on my GTS, and plan on doing it on my evo. If/when I do I will post a how too.
There is also a simple mod to disable the GPS in the nav. You basically install a switch that turns the GPS off. The nav unit cuts out video when it senses you are moving using the GPS. No GPS=no video cutout. Just flip the switch back on to use the nav again. I'm at work now and will try to find the how-to later.
So CAMP2 can definetly be used with the stock nav. Only problems would be that the nav input would have to be AUX to see the video which means you could not listen to satelite/radio/cd/or musicserver just an Ipod or something.
flagg77 05-28-2008, 03:43 PM ddawg, looking fwd to your input here. I have seen those threads on the cut out switch for the GPS unit, but i didn't realize it was part of adding the video rca jack. I thought that had issues though? Like it would cut out and you would have to flip the switch again or something.
So so far i think we're saying, its possible with the factory nav given some taking apart of the dash and nav unit modifications, but just easier with an aftermarket head unit/nav
thanks
ddawg1130 05-28-2008, 05:46 PM I installed the video rca on my lancer GTS, but I didn't get around to doing the mod to the GPS unit to allow video to display while driving. What you have heard reflects what I have read in terms of there sometimes being an issue where the video still won't play. But as you said it seems to just take a flic of the switch on-off to get the video to work again.
As far as the install of the video rca cable, I had absolutely 0 issues with that. The video quality was good.
What I'm waiting for is for somebody to hack the nav and come out with a way to disable the video cutout via software.

haha "hack" :p you mean a simple patch for it?
i want the hkscamp2 too :( this is the only thing holding back. i hope someone created one soon, if that is even possible i guess..
Mojito 09-13-2008, 06:37 PM Just re-read the FAQ and found out this:
Q8. Can fuel efficiency be monitored for every vehicle?
A. Fuel efficiency cannot be monitored on vehicles marked with an (X) on INJECTOR or SPEED section of the vehicle application chart.
(Due to variations in different regions, vehicle display data may vary)
Example: Certain vehicles within HONDA, MITSUBISHI and TOYOTA2 specs may not display fuel efficiency.
In the application chart it says that the EvoX cannot read injector time which means the fuel economy functionality of the Camp 2 will not be available for our cars :(

macPSU 10-06-2008, 02:55 AM Bump to see if anyone has successfully installed CAMP2 on an 08 Lancer or Evo yet.
Wicked White 10-09-2008, 04:13 PM Nothing will be happening with camp2, until we find a way to bypass the aux like they did with the .kwi patch for the dvd in motion.
- that is, if you have your heart set on the factory navi
alonsoems 12-05-2008, 10:36 PM hello i was wondering how can i bypass my navi or what do you mean just put a switch
EvoX08 12-06-2008, 02:43 AM why dont you you-hoos just download the damn navi upgrade from evom.com it upgrades the patch system so you cam watch video on nave while driving....
