: Sports Coupes Discussion
RGory477 05-27-2008, 08:07 PM Ok so I'm kinda looking for a car but not for the near future just down the road and I'm just trying to explore my options and see what there is out there
I'm basically looking for something like this
At least 200hp
Preferably Couple
Anything under about 30k
Nothing older than year 2000
Pretty broad range but so far I've (not exactly considered) but looked at the:
Nissan 350z
Infiniti G35
Pontiac Solstice
Saturn Sky
Nissan Altima Coupe
Mitsubishi Eclipse GT
BMW M3(used obviously)
Mazda RX-8
Honda S2000
Then of course just a used Evo or STI
Anything I'm missing out there?
Also whats your opinions on some of those cars. Would you recommend or suggest staying away from any?
Anyways just looking to talk a little about some other cars and don't really know where to go so any conversations appreciated.
Kooldino 05-27-2008, 08:49 PM They're making a solstice coupe. That thing looks hot.
ouano 05-27-2008, 08:52 PM BMW 128i and 135i would be high on my list with those stipulations. The M3, 350z, and G35 would be the only ones I would choose out of your list.
soopah 05-27-2008, 09:32 PM Used Mazdaspeed MX-5, or the new one coming mid-2008?
2007+ MINI Cooper S (with optional JCW upgrade)?
Jackygor 05-27-2008, 10:26 PM When are you planning to get the car? Gensis coupe, 240x should be out or the toyobaru should be coming out soon.
Out of the list I say used m3
Lock & Load 05-27-2008, 10:52 PM A Mazda RX8 with an aftermarket Turbo kit , should be considered .:shades:

soopah 05-28-2008, 12:25 AM Used M3 versus current 335i???
Malves85 05-28-2008, 12:51 AM rx-8 is a nice looking car. g35 is nice but all over the place. honda s2000 is a great car but not practical. 350z is a dime a dozen. i think the eclipse is a girls car. I was thinking about getting an altima coupe but it seems to also become a girls car plus have heard of lots of issues with it. a used m3 would be a nice car but can get expensive fast if needs repairs. pontiac solstice and saturn sky are nice cars but like the s2000, not pracitcal. those cars would be great if u had a second car. a used evo or sti is always a great choice. not a coupe but still a ton of fun. just make sure you dont get a used 08 sti when u are looking. i think 04-06 is the best year for those guys. in the near future you might find a nice 08 evo for cheap. if you look at the socal forums you will see sam is selling a base one for $29,999. maybe if your lucky you can find a used one for mid to low 20s.
TRUSTcompany9000 05-28-2008, 01:42 AM RX8's and G35's are everywhere around here, and I really don't like them unless they are done right. If you get a 350Z, get a Nizmo imo. I've seen one G35 done up really well, but sadly, the guy that owns it, is a complete moron.

I basically feel the same about all of that. The hardest part is just finding an at least semi-practical coupe car. The s2000, 350z, Solstice, and Sky have nothing to em, just 2 seats and a small trunk. I like the RX-8 a lot but i just feel like if I bought one of those I'd have to put a lot of mods on it before I'd be happy with it. Thats why I like the Evo and the STI(not as much as an Evo though) cause they're practical and preform, as far as looks go on those..eh...I like coupe looks better and honestly the interior in em is pretty shitty. The eclipse has become a pretty girly car thanks to all the girls drivin em so you'd have to put a lot of mods on it to get out of the girly stereotype. The G35 is everywhere but I have seen nicely styled ones and they're fuckin sexy so I feel like the G35(modded) stands out above the rest

Damnn! I just looked up those cars, I'd buy that Gensis Coupe any day! Estimated 300hp:thumbup: looks kinda like a G35 mixed with a Lexus IS250, thats kinda how I'd picture an IS250/350 if they made a coupe. Sounds and looks like its guna be pretty pricey though, at least like mid 30's.
I don't get the Toyobaru? Who's it guna be by Toyota or Subaru? Or are they really just guna leave it as the only "Toyobaru"?
Jackygor 05-28-2008, 06:43 PM ^^^^
I present you toyobaru or suyota

Inside Line is reporting that the new, RWD coupe being developed by Subaru and Toyota will only be sold as a Subaru in markets outside of Japan, while the Toyota version will remain exclusive to the Land of the Rising Sun. The report goes on to say that the coupe will be based off the Subaru Impreza (despite Toyota/Subaru's own press release saying that it's an "all-new" platform) and that power will be provided by a naturally aspirated, 2.0-liter boxer engine producing 220 hp at 6,500 rpm.
Toyota and Subaru are using the Integra Type-R as the performance benchmark for the new coupe, with a 103-inch wheelbase, a 2+2 seating layout and a curb weight of 2,866 pounds. As reported before, the coupe will debut in 2011 and pricing is expected to begin just south of $20,000.
If you do get gensis coupe, get the turbo 4, so you can stay in the 4b11t family ;)
RGory477 05-28-2008, 10:46 PM naturally aspirated 220hp..eh...not bad but I fuckin lovee that Genesis Coupe! I want one now!
Malves85 05-28-2008, 11:04 PM The new Hyundai genesis coupe looks sick but I would never trust it. Sounds good and all but how is the quality? Ive been in a few Tiburons and they are just horrible. Hyundai is supposed to be improving a lot so it might be good but I would wait a few months after that thing is out to see how it stacks up.
That new subaru/toyota coupe looks great. Both top companies right there making one sick machine. If your near future is looking towards 2011 I would get that thing.
RGory477 05-29-2008, 03:59 PM 2011s a little to far into the future, im looking for more like 2009
I wish the Mitsu concept RA would come out!
Spiritech 05-30-2008, 03:01 AM Mustang GT
The Cobalt SS Turbo(Might be the spiritual successor to the real SRT-4)
I don't know when this Alfa will make it here but the Brera is hot http://www.brera.alfaromeo.com/ it however is not the fastest car.
You may also want to keep an eye for out for the 2010 RX-8 I believe its the redesign year with the new Renesis.
UnctrldRage 05-30-2008, 04:44 AM Dont over look despite the badging...since its a few years your looking down....keep the Hyundai Genisis Coupe V6 300 Hp RWD
Malves85 05-30-2008, 10:20 PM I would kock off the cobalt. I dont have the SS but im guessing the only difference is the engine and leather seats with SS on them and maybe a guage or two on the b column. My car is a POS. I really dont want to get into whats wrong with the car cause I will be here all day. Its only 2 years old and worse then my 95 bonneville sitting in my driveway. Stick with Japanese cars. Cheap and last forever.
Spiritech 05-31-2008, 05:40 AM I don't mean the last SS; i'm talking about the the one coming out that's Turbocharged to about 220-240 ponies, Its even getting upgraded suspension. GM tested it on the ring and it did about 8:35. Another thing, GM has been intentionially improving the quality of thier cars over the past few years so the new SS may be better made. Im not saying its going to be great or even good, just that its worth keeping an eye on.
