I went to the first track day of the season at BIR. Cold to the point of having some snow flakes. Despite that fact, my fuel pump was overheating so I had a less than spectacular day.

I did get a couple decent warm-up videos on the long course. It was my first time using Harry's Lap Timer for the iPhone and I think it's pretty cool.

That pump was a wet dream when I built my car.

Nice videos. That is a LONG straightaway. Looks like you got harry's laptimer to work a lot better than my friend did. The data actually looks smooth and accurate without any weird fluctuations. Which gps receiver are you using, and which obd2 logger are you using? Is the phone jailbroken?
What is the intermittent beeping sound? How is it calculating which gear you are in?

What are are the symptoms of a fuel pump that is overheating? Which fuel pump are you using?

Any finally... how hooked are you on tracking now??

Nice videos. That is a LONG straightaway.

Yeah, BIR is something like .6 miles on the straight. Gates hits 188 there pretty quickly. I'm easing my way into higher speeds. It was when I decided to go for 160 indicated that I had my first bad misfire. :(

Which gps receiver are you using, and which obd2 logger are you using? Is the phone jailbroken?TomTom cradle and Kiwi WiFi. Not jailbroken.

What is the intermittent beeping sound? How is it calculating which gear you are in?I think it beeps at each programmed way-point. I think there's an option to shut that off. You are required to input tq/hp and gear ratios when you set up the car. It is actually quite accurate...it even caught a mis-shift that I made into 5th at one of the corners.

What are are the symptoms of a fuel pump that is overheating? Which fuel pump are you using?I had a misfire on the straight as my first sign of trouble. After that I'd get gigantic fuel pressure drops (below 30) and my fuel pressure gauge would beep like mad to alert me of the problem and it wouldn't occur for about 10min into the session--ran like a champ until then. I'm not certain that it is a bad pump or not...it could just be that my surge tank went dry.

My fuel system problems are epic. Current setup is a Full Blown double-pump hanger (which has fuel pickup issues) feeding a 1.5ltr surge tank. I have a single Jay Racing 044 clone running off of that and powered by a KB Boost-a-pump to get enough fuel out of it.

My plan is to swap the 044/BAP combo out for a Weldon 2015/controller combo. I'm also going to wire the second pump in that FB double-pump. That secondary pump runs off a Hobbs switch. Normally you wouldn't need that much pump to fill a surge tank but the pickup issue that the FB hanger has is worse than stock so I may need more pump to compensate. I don't like running a BAP...it's a band-aid solution to not having enough pump.

Any finally... how hooked are you on tracking now??Preaching to the choir. I've just never gotten more than 12 laps at an HPDE before due to fueling problems. I've had so many fuel pumps/systems in the car it's unreal. My car is a bit of a lemon as far as fueling goes. Epic. Just Epic.

The videos are wicked cool. Good luck with the fuel situation.

sucks on the fuel situation. problems like that are why i never want to modify a car again. and nice vids, that is a long fucking straight

haha. I guess they let the advanced run group sweep the track. The paint on my front end is pretty trashed from a half-dozen days of it. I'm pleased with the sound as well...it's just an iPhone on the center of the dash.

I may very well end up with a stock in-tank hanger again. I'll keep plugging away at it. A couple years of 'development' on a track car isn't unusual.

Thats an Iphone? That is some pretty good video from a phone. I remember some great AMA Superbike races from that track.

I washed the car today and the Seibon carbon grill that I had installed is in sad shape due to all the track debris. Going to have to use painter's tape on that next time since it looks bad enough as it is.

I've got my 1st track day with this car coming up. Any specific areas gettin bashed by the debris or should I just tape up the entire front like a plastic surgery patient?

You might as well tape it all. It's mostly center grill and the bottom edge of the Aero lip. I have caught a few chips on the sides in the center and the top edge as well but those were more on the road than the track. The hood was spared this time around.

No chips for me. My biggest problem has been tire marks all over the car from flying bits of tires coming out of the cars in front of me. They're a pain to clean off...

What do use to get the tire marks off of the paint?

Aero solves that back-door rock chip issue. I think in 2010 they redesigned the non-Aero skirts to be a little wider to also avoid that issue.

My car still looks fine from a few feet away. I do what I consider reasonable to make the car look good but driving it comes first.

I use Goo-Gone for stuff like that and it works well.

Cleaner wax takes that stuff off pretty well
