: EVO X stock ECU update next week!
Crispy 05-29-2008, 05:33 AM According to my local dealer, Mitsubishi is releasing an update to the ECU programming that deals with lag/hesitation at 5,000 RPM and up. The car runs too rich at high RPMs and this update is supposed to lean out the air/fuel mix. Everyone with an EVO should get this update done!
Jackygor 05-29-2008, 05:40 AM ahhhh...another update? great news :D
antics22 05-29-2008, 06:47 PM Update is OUT. Just released last night. This is a 2nd REFLASH for those of you still experiencing top-end sputtering...
Im going in this Saturday.
BTW, this is in Socal at southcoast mitsubishi.... Im not sure about other states, check with your local dealer!
Kooldino 05-29-2008, 06:55 PM Sweet!
Oh man, does anyone have the TSB info so i can show my dealer? I need this bad. Its like my car hits a wall at 5k.
tsitalon1 05-29-2008, 07:29 PM Yes please...I need the TSB....I can drive the 200 mile round trip tommorow for this...but not until I get the TSB.
lwevert 05-29-2008, 08:23 PM +1 on getting the TSB, my local dealership doesn't know crap. On the last flash I had to bring it in to show them what I was talking about.
Kooldino 05-29-2008, 09:02 PM My local dealer in NJ doesn't have it yet and doesn't know anything about it. :(
Jackygor 05-29-2008, 09:25 PM I hope the MR already has these flashes done from the factory
Mightygnu 05-29-2008, 09:46 PM The MR should, bah I don't want to drive all the way to South Coast again for a reflash... dumb gas prices!
Jackygor 05-29-2008, 09:58 PM Would these updates make the x faster?
ibarkovic 05-29-2008, 09:58 PM my local dealer new exactly wat i was talking about and he said 1 x had it done today and was extremely happy so i made an appointment for tommorow.
USLegalTender 05-29-2008, 10:50 PM 'Nother bump for the TSB#.
Hmm, haven't heard of this update in Japan. I wonder if it's just for USDM Evos.
If you call and they say they know what it is, get the TSB info!!!!!
MrSinister 05-30-2008, 12:16 AM so i went to my dealer just now, and they scheduled me for the reflash. I dont know all the specifics, but from what i could quickly read on the computer screen, it was a "revision" to the april reflash.
Just thought id get the word out!
Woo!
dont know the tsb info though sorry!
Mightygnu 05-30-2008, 03:29 AM bump for the TSB #
TwilightZ1 05-30-2008, 07:55 AM Hi SiC,
Just curious. Did you get your first reflash in Japan?
I am from Singapore and my dealer said Mitsu Japan did not inform them about any reflash or TSB whatsoever.
Thanks.
Hmm, haven't heard of this update in Japan. I wonder if it's just for USDM Evos.

edofloat 05-30-2008, 11:36 AM The correct TSB is TSB 08-13-011
Technical Service Bulletin
SUBJECT:
ENGINE CONTROL MODULE REPROGRAMMING
FOR SLIGHT HESITATION ABOVE 5,000 RPM
No: TSB 08-13-011
DATE: May, 2008
MODEL: 2008 Lancer Evolution
CIRCULATE TO: [ ] GENERAL MANAGER [X] PARTS MANAGER [X] TECHNICIAN
[X] SERVICE ADVISOR [X] SERVICE MANAGER [X] WARRANTY PROCESSOR [ ] SALES MANAGER
PURPOSE
Customers of some affected vehicles may experience a slight hesitation when accelerating at engine
speeds above 5,000 RPM. The condition is due to the air fuel mixture becoming too rich during higher
engine speed.
This Technical Service Bulletin advises the steps to reprogram the ECM with new software which will cor‐
rect the air/fuel ratio during certain operating parameters.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
2008 Lancer Evolution equipped with 5 speed manual transmission only built prior to April 10, 2008.
MrSinister 05-30-2008, 01:33 PM thats not the only one, i saw that one, but what i posted before about "a revision to april flash" was also in there.
heres to two updates :godance:
USLegalTender 05-30-2008, 11:52 PM Sounds like a deal! I have a date set for June 16th!
antics22 05-31-2008, 12:03 AM slight hesitation... HAHAHAHA... more like HEAVY CYLINDER FUEL FLOODING.
edofloat 05-31-2008, 12:06 AM I had one of the techs flash my car today in between jobs, it is running no where near as rich as before at high throttle settings. Before I could see it in the rear view mirror, it was very rich. I also checked a spot and this -may- have added a small increase in fuel economy, not sure yet. I'm thinking about .5 to 1.5 is possible. I know where I was getting 26.5 or so at 62 changed to 28.3. I'll find out fore sure on Sunday and can compare to a 270 mile from a week ago.
It only took a short amount of time to apply the new software.

heres to two updates :godance:
Yes that TSB is the third one listed, the latest of course rolls in all the other updates as well. My car would get mixed up a bit when I started the car from time to time too, seems like that stopped as well with the latest update.
DJ_Bboy 05-31-2008, 04:48 AM We get it in Canada as soon as its released by Mitsu North America.
yap, i have made an appointment already for the updated reflash june 4th to be exact. hope this will really help to lean the car and better gas.
TriStateEvo 05-31-2008, 05:59 AM According to the Dealer Link, it's the same flash from before.
USLegalTender 05-31-2008, 06:05 AM yap, i have made an appointment already for the updated reflash june 4th to be exact. hope this will really help to lean the car and better gas.
Question is, will this limit how much we can mod the car before we need a tune because it'll be leaned out too much with power..?
ibarkovic 05-31-2008, 06:06 AM i got it, i feel very slight power gain, put response is alot faster and pulls alot more in top end, i was hitting 145 on my way home witout too much pressure.
Talon_66 05-31-2008, 06:54 AM Question is, will this limit how much we can mod the car before we need a tune because it'll be leaned out too much with power..?
Lol U can basically put on everything on my mod list and it'll still be pig rich.
It leaned out a bit, I think I was still in the 11:1s for AFR
ibarkovic 05-31-2008, 01:43 PM oo ya if i had the money do do it i would :p but i only have 1k and i am already getting a deal from xtreme turbo that will make me run "pig rich"
Talon_66 05-31-2008, 07:13 PM oo ya if i had the money do do it i would :p but i only have 1k and i am already getting a deal from xtreme turbo that will make me run "pig rich"
The car runs pig rich from the factory, aftermarket parts will lean it out. But not a lot.
dcasandman 06-04-2008, 04:26 PM Going tommorrow for the reflash I will post if I feel any difference at all
J5isalive 06-04-2008, 11:27 PM got my flash today...
Car runs a lot smoother up top. No real notice in power.... but the temp here is in the 90s so its not the best conditions for a turbo car.... maybe tonight when it cools down i will notice a small gain.
ddawg1130 06-05-2008, 01:57 AM I'm loving tis thread... to bad I can't get this flash done untill a week from this saturday cause I'm tracking my car all day this saturday. Would be nice to have the flash before taking it to the track :(
Nateninja13 06-05-2008, 02:08 AM I got this done on monday. Pulls to redline finally!
Dreidrei 09-05-2008, 10:39 PM I just got it for my car today.
gixxer 09-06-2008, 12:43 AM Going on Monday the 8th of Sept to get mine.
