Wow, was just dicking around on here and found this thread...

I'm out in Langley, anyone else out this way in the valley?

As far as tune and parts... I'm putting together a list and getting it all shipped to English Tuning in Vancouver Washington either late this year or early next. All ETS and then Specialty X exhaust - installed and tuned by English. I'll report back after it's all done.

Winters - running Audi R8 knock offs (18x8) with Perelli winters on it right now. the offset isn't the greatest and the wheels look like they're tucked but I'll be on the road all winter. Form over function for 4 months!

Another side note - I'm driving an 08 MR Premium, Apex Silver. I'm looking to pull the spoiler off and put on a small lip spoiler. Anyone local have anything they'd be willing to part with?

Best of luck in finding an Evo that works for you!

If you get the chance I'd say go talk to the guys at Autohouse Mitsu in Abby. I've picked up 3 cars from them over the last 3 years. Sales guys are a dime a dozen but their service department is pretty stand up. I had a major problem with my car (motor blew up at 2200km) and they took pretty good care of me. Mitsu corporate was a little hard to deal with, but the dealership definitely held up their end of the bargain.

Wow, that's the shits guys. Not to gloat, but I came into Autohouse Mitsubishi in Abbotsford totally ass backwards into the loan for my 2006 Outlander Ltd. I owed about 29K and it was only worth about 11K trade in. Through incentives I wound up getting $17,500 as trade in on my car, less than 10K into the hole.

So glad I bought mine last year! There's no way I could have afforded a 2010 MR Touring with the crap discounts you guys are getting. And no slight against any of you, I guess dealerships are just tightening up the purse strings...

verkion
01-21-2010, 07:13 AM
I thought everyone that bought from a) Vancouver Mitsu b) Richmond Mitsu c) North Van Mitsu (I don't remember their actual names...but you guys all know), got shafted :-P ME INCLUDED. I was MSRP + $1K for my MR. I think most other guys were between the 1K off to 3K over MSRP range.

As for tuning classes...Tuning classes? LOL. You guys seriously want tuning classes...its free on the forums here in the ECUFlash section! The fundamentals are super-duper simple and there are already awesome guides written. The "not so simple" stuff, well, you probably don't want to screw with anyways...

Look there's only a couple things you need to change to make power...in no particular order, timing, Mivec, fueling, boost. Did I miss anything? Timing = easy to tweak...not so hard to understand b/c that's one map. Same with fueling, (you can even screw with the fuel injector scaling if you're super duper lazy to lean everything out). MIVEC is really 2 maps, one intake, one exhaust. The thing is its not well understood...study how an engine works, combustion propagation etc. and it kind of starts to make sense...or not. LOL. MIVEC is a little difficult I admit.

And then Boost...boost seems really daunting but its actually simple. Just remember this. Car has a "map" for target, what it should hit for "load" which is for simplicity sake, tied to your boost. Then you have this device that shunts pressure away from your Wastegate. Wastegate opens later then = more boost. So...2 sets of maps. Reactive and Passive. Each set has 3 maps a piece b/c you need high and low...actually there are 2 high gears that are exactly the same. and 1 low. Why that is, nobody knows yet.

Phew...ok, what else. Oh yes, you can determine which gears are "high" and "low" by setting the value in another map.

Then you have the Airflow and Throttle limits tables which basically must be matched so that you don't trigger weird codes.

That's it. That's all there is to it...well, ok, there are other tables that can be adjusted and probably should be, but you probably don't want to screw with those anyways. Those, you just leave to an expert :-P

Is this a Canadian shop? Who is Marko? lol

Yes, Marko is a local engine tuner. He took a couple classes of engine tuning courses at Maztech, Australia back in 2002 and opened his first tuning shop in Langley, BC in 2004.

Marko's shop was called 4sfed (short for "force fed"), and he held 50% stake in the shop. His partners, Kevin and Mark, each held the 25% of the shares in 4sfed. Marko was the chief engine tuner, Mark was the wiring specialist, and Kevin was the welder.

4sfed specialized in tuning FC3S RX-7's and Microtech ECU Systems. The shop also tuned Haltechs, and various other piggyback systems. Aside from FC3S, the shop also performed engine building, engine swaps, and turbo projects on customers' 240sx and Skylines. Marko's personal vehicle was a convertible FC3S with over 600hp. He gained major recognitions in the local tuning scene through drag racing events.

4sfed was an immense success immediately after its inception. Marko married his fiancee in the summer, and started expanding his business by literally overtaking and purchasing its neighboring FD3S tuning shops and their dyno equipment.

In 2005, business for 4sfed remained secure, but slowly declining. Throughout the course of 4sfed history, many of its customers experienced engine failures due to poor Microtech tuning. Almost everybody who had their Microtech systems installed and tuned by 4sfed suffered major idle and cold start problems. Marko refused to honor the works he performed on customer vehicles and always overcharged customers unforeseen fees. Marko was also reportedly drinking while working all the time. He arrived to work late and missed appointments. Marko often engaged in internet flaming on various local automotive forums whenever customers gave them negative reviews. In one instance, he threatened to sue a customer for slandering his name on the internet. The customer then publicly announced that Marko approached him and threatened to break his fingers if he were to post anything negative about 4sfed.

In 2006, 4sfed collapsed. Mark and Kevin, the other two shareholders of 4sfed, opted out of the business. According to Mark’s friends, Marko became extremely eccentric and irresponsible. Both Mark and Kevin found Marko extremely difficult to work with. It was also rumored that the business’s cash was constantly missing. Kevin and Mark became extremely suspicious of Marko. They decided that opting out of the business was best for everybody.

Marko’s name and 4sfed slowly began to vanish from the tuning scene.

Is that enough information on who Marko is?

Not much bargain room, $42500 with VIP life-time oil changes ($30 for synthetic oil, car wash and other bells and whistles), all weather floor mats and possibly the best buying experience despite the little bargain room.

I strongly recommend Tom from North Shore Mitsu, possibly one of the best salesman. Approachable, non-pressuring and really knows his cars. Go for a test drive with him and you will know why :)

Those words are coming from someone that spent the last 3 months shopping for cars and visited possibly every JDM dealership in the lower mainland. I have been told the Civic Si uses different engines to the Acura CSX Type S and that the Type S is more potent (coming from the sales manager, what BS) and that Si is never allowed to be test driven. I have been told that the RalliArt has brembo brakes from another Mitsu dealer, and from else where that a Honda Fit is as fast as an Si..............

Enough rant, I pick up my EVO X in 4 days and I am losing sleep over it already :)
