: Future X Owners: How old are you?

It seems to me that the X is appealing to an older crowd than the previous evos did. So, future Evo X owners: How old are you?

So far, it looks pretty even across a wide spread age group :)

I'm 41, think I've mentioned that in another thread, so there's no hiding now lol :) and agree with Kooldino that this new Evo appeals to an older demographic more than any previous model as it's not as 'hoony' or 'boyracer' looking, but more classy and descrete :)

It's the 1st one I'm interested in buying...

Good to see however that it also appeals to younger people as well, looks like Mitsubishi have got the recipe right :)

As far as I know only 2 or 3 of us ??

I'm a member of an Aust. Evo forum (same as Micheal 'lock n load') and that's how I heard of and joined this site :)

Main reason was to find out/learn more about the new Evo X, the more access to info and knowledge the better :)

I also own a couple of Opels (Saturn to you guys in the U.S I think it is) and am a member of a U.K Opel forum as well as a couple of local ones, it's a great help having access to a wealth of knowledge, especially from another part of the World...

Don't know about you guys in the U.S but here in Aust. all you lot that are 20-25 and even 25-29 will have major hassles and massive premiums on their insurance policies with this type of car.....

In fact below the age of 25, you may not find an insurer at all ! :(

Might have to do the old trick of putting it under the parents names :)

I am 35 and I think this car still has a somewhat boy racer look to it.

I got into driving for fun only recently, when I bought a 2005 MINI Cooper. I then went to work for a MINI dealer and upgraded to a Cooper S. They handled quite well and were a blast to fling about the city. Then I won a MINI employee contest and was treated to 48 hours in Amsterdam with a full day of driving training and driving at the Zandvoort race track, with Rauno Aaltonen (driver of the winning Mini at the '67 Monte Carlo Ralley) and his son (along with many other fine instructors I cannot recall the names of at this time!). They have a driving school in Finland and worked with MINI to provide driving training to MINI salespeople.

I've had my Cooper S to the Mission Raceway and that was fun, too. Not the quarter mile, the road course. But I have sold my MINI for over a year now and have been driving an SUV. I need a car larger than a MINI for my current job and want something that is fun to drive. I like the 'newness of the Evolution, seeing as it has never before been offered in Canada. It also has a real heritage to it, like Mitsu knows what they are doing with these cars!

19 years ago I learned to drive manual in an old beat up Datsun station wagon known as the "Green Monster!" It was fun to drive on back country gravel roads, it went fast (if you were patient) and I didn't worry about smashing up a new car (I eventually took it over a hard square curb sideways, peeled the rubber right off the rims and landed in a deserted lot, thankfully it wasn't someones front yard!). Kids drive stupid in any generation, so be careful.

Wow, interesting poll results so far. Less than 30% of respondants are 30 or older. Very young crowd, which is expected for the Evolution, but I think Mitsubishi was trying to attract a more mature client set with the X.

Tvall13
10-12-2007, 03:34 PM
They were trying to attract a slightly older more mature crowd as you can tell by the styling the upgraded interor and what they said about the power being more linear and less of just a kick in the ass. The problem is most of the people over 30 don't know what a Evo is. It's a relatively new car to the American market and a lot of people learned about it through video games and the more recent craze of car tuning. I think they'll have to give it a few years until they start getting a shift toward the older crowd.

While we're bragging... By your age I owned 2 houses (one I live in, and one rental) without ever borrowing a dime from my parents. In fact my Mom and step father actually live in my rental and pay me rent. :p

And no I didn't get some giant inheritance or hit the lottery to make that happen. I was simply smart with my money and saved/invested everything I could rather then buying expensive toys like the rest of my friends. Now I'm financially secure enough that I can buy pretty much anything I want (like a $45K car) while everyone else I know still lives paycheck to paycheck.

If young people were smarter with their money we'd hear a lot more success stories like ours. But most are dumb and spend every dime they make on crap they don't need. :)

Huh who said I was braggin (I didn't go into my life story)? When a young guy posts up how he owns 2 of any of the same car that's 30k+ (especially evos) the first thing you get asked is "did your parents help you?" or "do you still live at home?"

What is your daily drive like? Besides transporting yourself around, what else do you think you'll need to do with your car? Do you need space for passengers, luggage or cargo, and do you need any special consideration for your passengers, e.g., child seats, elderly or disabled passengers? Do you have any back pain that might be aggravated by daily driving on a stiffer suspension? Are you a big guy or a regular sized guy (the seats are quite form fitting)? Do you like/need to portray a certain image to your clients, colleagues, neighbours? There are a lot of factors involved, so many things to consider. What kind of vehicles would you consider to be better able to meet your daily needs?

i might own a X my dad found a good deal on one here in el cajon i think. dont remember exactly but i'm pretty sure it was $34,000 for a GSR with the Sight Sound and Spoiler Package, and Navigation/Audio/Install Kit.

Care full not to wrap it around a tree. I know I have been a good driver ever since I started but some 16 yo's just can't handle fast cars. I doubt you will have any more than 300 hp ever though. I'm getting at least 500 awhp in my evo!!!

Hi everybody. I'm new here and I'd like to know how old the average Evo X owner is! Are there any other 19 year olds out there who can afford one? And I'd also like to say congrats to every owner for having one!

Oh and sorry if this is a repost. Couldn't find any other threads regarding this while searching..holla

No Worries Wolf, "Good things come to those who wait"...

You will get yours soon, and they will release a sicker version of the Evo. Have you seen the 2010 production version?

Malves85
04-16-2009, 01:15 AM
Seeing you can get one for under 30k I say late teens or early 20s like myself (24) affording them.
Thinking about how much I made in senior year of highschool and through college working part time I could probably afford a base one with some money left over to have fun. But its not only buying the car but the maintenance you need to take into account. Tires are replaced more often, oil changes more often, gas mileage for me is around 18mpg so coming from a car that did 32mpg you fill up more often and use premium.
If you got the money go for it. I would have loved cruising around college in an Evo.

Wolf
04-16-2009, 01:15 AM
'Ppreciate it!! I guess I need to hear that more often haha

Did you say that quote in a different thread? Or maybe someone else did. I thought i saw it earlier.

And oh yeah, i saw it. I like it a lot. I WAS planning on buying one around then, but the new one just makes me want to wait even longer. But I'm not sure. thanks again Zanx

25. The GM of our Flight Information Region (I am an air traffic controller) was visiting my tower today. He was an "older" guy but him and I started to talk about cars and I showed him a picture of an evo I had on my computer desktop and he picked it out instantly as an evo x. Just turned 20. Buying in June. Full time Rutgers student and full time sushi chef. I've held off on further modding my civic since April 08' because I rationalized that I might as well just buy another car. Watching everyone on my Civic forum get mods and all that killed me this whole year. As you guys know, once you get the mod bug it's addictive. Rest assured, once I finally just buy this car I'm going baller mod crazy.
