: Pioneer AVIC-F Series!
GoKimiGo! 05-30-2008, 08:38 PM Just came across this bad boy, yes I know it isn't a fat 7 inch screen (It is 5.8") but damn it sounds and looks fantastic! If they can pull it off right that is. Controlling your ipod, bluetooth cellphone, and navi by voice??!! Sweet! Menus look very good, clean and easy to navigate, and they even replicate the ipod interface like on my iphone! And the Navi maps look pretty good as well. Here are the links ladies and gents...

Supposed to be out on June 8th! Johnny's pickin up a AVIC-F90BT me thinks!
Sorry for the over excitement but this seems to be just what I was looking for.
jtgeme 05-30-2008, 09:46 PM I saw this too, I am very excited about....
Tho i did a comparison between it and the reduced price of the AVIC - D3, and its close - the MSN Direct, HD Radio compatibility, and built in Bluetooth gives the F series the advantage.
When you install this do you plan on replacing all the audio components - speakers, amp, etc. or just doing the head unit?
GoKimiGo! 05-30-2008, 10:18 PM I have been researching what the installation would be like and apparently the factory RF sound system is... well it's shit lol.
So yes I would be replacing virtually everything but going for a VERY clean install, stock looking except of course for the head unit. :)
The problem is I don't know how to do any of this myself, I am handy but have never worked on a car's A/V setup. Therefore I would have to pay for an install at a trustworthy shop (who won't damage anything during the install lol) in the NY,NJ,CT tristate area.
However it seems worth it to me as it would be very integrated and won't require me to hack up my steering wheel to get Bluetooth support that isn't very user friendly to begin with.
First and foremost I will wait for the reviews of this system to see if it delivers on its promises. If it doesn't i will go with the factory Nav unit.
jtgeme 05-30-2008, 11:37 PM I envy your patience - I am not sure that I can wait that long. Right now it seems that I am waiting more on the adapter to turn on the factory amp. I want to do this in stages - I don't have 2k to drop on a new setup all at once. I plan to do the install myself - but that could change - we shall see.
GoKimiGo! 05-31-2008, 02:31 PM There is talk of such and adapter in the pipelines to be released soon. I read about it on evolutionm.net's Evo X electronic forums. Check it out.
Another concern for me is the metra kit, not very good looking IMO. I did see a poster put up a carbon fiber replacement that looked hot but it's for the right hand drive Evo Xs :(

If you are anywhere near Nanuet look up Sound Concepts on route 59. Ive gone to them several times for subs and speakers and had many friends use them. Nothing but top notch service. Had some issues with bluetooth in a car and he fixed it right away for free. Had the gf overheat her stereo somehow and the owner showed me how to take it apart and fix it all for free. The Ferrari/Maserati dealership up the road uses them for all their installs. Everytime I stop by I see one of those cars in their bay.
Im also looking at the F series Nav. The factory seems good but I want a diff Nav with bluetooth and all built in. I saw that carbon fiber replacement and it does look hot. I would def replace all my trim with that if the price isnt too bad.

I'm 30 minutes away from Nanuet, I will definitely take up your recommendation. Do you think you could PM me their address?
It's the same case with me, I want a all in one hub. If the factory Navi had good blue tooth integration built into the unit I would opt for that, but as it stands you have two completely separate systems. Even my 2 year old tomtom 910 mobile navi connects to my iPhone, lets me transfer over my phone book, view my phone book and dial right from the touch screen list, even has a virtual keypad to dial out and talk hands free! It is too convenient for me to move to anything else that is harder to use. And that thing cost me like $300. It has Ipod control and a hard drive to store mp3s and plays everything back over the car stereo.
I guess that is why the AVIC-F sounds so good to me, it is everything I am used to and more, plus it is close to the factory look instead of sticking something to my windshield : )
We have to push for those carbon fiber pieces!
Malves85 06-01-2008, 08:28 PM Sent you a PM
Im hoping the nav and carbon trim piece come out before my car arrives so I can take it right to him for that then next door for some tints. This is my first tuner car so im going to have fun with it. Im going to be broke by the end of the summer, haha!
GoKimiGo! 06-01-2008, 11:58 PM Tell me about it, I have a ton of custom work planned for it. Thanks for the PM, I will check them out for sure.

So if you get an aftermarket HU, it can't use the stock amp?

As far as the 08 Rockford system, yes. I am not sure of older evos, or the 08 's with the nav.
I have emailed a number of manufacturers that make the adapters and all of them something in the works. Generally they tell me it's in the testing phase and should be out "in a month or so".
Regardless, its aggravating.

I hope this helps. I plan to change the factory HU with:
Alpine W205 which is similar to the Pioneer, but I have always loved the functionality of Alpine and it offers Blackbird portable navigation for the wife's car. Let me know what you guys think.
Oh and her is the latest aftermarket double din replacement kit. Not sure how well the black matchs our EvoX interior.
